It's my birthday today and fancy an really nice Italian meal with DH tonight. I don't get out much so any recommendations for somewhere to eat close to Umm Suqquim would be greatly appreciated. TIA

My favorite is Medzo but it is in Wafi. There is also a great Italian restaurant in the Emirates Towers..I can't remember the name at the moment. Mosaico is the name of the Italian one at Emirates Towers. Thanks, PMD...forgot to come back and add the name..it's been a long time since we have been there but it was very good. I believe they used to have a brunch or some sort of deal on weekends..not sure if they still do. The food was excellent.

Medzo is lovely, my husband was on an exclusion diet when we went there, and they bent over backwards to accommodate him, service was absolutely fantastic. Jump in a taxi, go to Vintage first for a nice glass of wine, then for your meal at Medzo and finish off with cocktails at Carters.... go on, its only 15 minutes in a taxi from US. ;)

Although everywhere was dead, Noodle House, Agency and The Ivy. Yes, it's in the lobby of the hotel, to your right.

Ciao,I'm italian...so........ - Toscana in Souk Madinat NOOOOOOO.... - Bice is a good restaurant but not very cheap - Sicilia at Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel I've never tried Segreto....... P.S. Please when they give you as appetizer olive oil, vinegar and parmesan to put on the bread.....do it...its nice but this is not a traditional italian appetizer...nobody in Italy does it! ;) Just to let you know! :) Ciao, I used to work in Italy and I'm looking for an authentic, cheap Italian here. Any suggestions? I have my regular 'la mia favola' which is in Garhoud, but it's not owned/run by Italians. Grazie mille :)

Wow! Thanks ladies. Now, which one to chose? From the sound of things, Medzo would be a popular choice but a little too far for tonight. We used to go to Don Corlione years ago - just assumed it was gone. Madinat is near by so maybe there or Bice, which we both love. Thanks again.

Happy birthday!!! I wouldn't consider Toscana an Italian restaurant, the quality of the food is very poor. You can try Segreto, also at Madinat Jumeirah. Or if you want something fancier, go for Bice, at the Hilton Jumeirah. Enjoy.
