I am at the end of my rope!!

DD seems to save all her tantrums and bad behavior for me. Meal times are a nightmare where I can't even get her to sit on the chair. I work weekends and she is an absolute pleasure with DH. She eats like a dream and sleeps and plays.

The In laws are here and I hear about how great she is with DH on a regular basis, everytime she acts up with me and maybe thats why I am then putting too much pressure on myself and her to nehave and it all goes downhill with me generally loosing it and taking it out on DD.

Anyone else experience this? DD is 2!

Does she take me for granted and is it because DH is a better enforcer of rules? I try my best and don't give in to her at all but maybe I am softer than I think I am.

Any input? Help pls!

it's because we're just so special! /sigh Anyhow, I also think it's because they feel confident around us, so can let their feeling show without fear of not being liked/loved. I also think it applies just as well to adults - how many times have you confided in your husband or mum, cried on their shoulder and/or had a massive paddy that you would be embarrassed to do in front of any of your best friends? ... hmmm, maybe it's just me then! lol

My aunt worked in nursery and told me that for some little ones, the drama begun the moment their parent stepped in the nursery to pick them up. These little angels, who behaved wonderful throughout the day, started suddenly to scream their lungs out and behave outta control the moment they saw their parent. She was puzzled and tried to explain this conundrum. Her thoughts were that LO "streches" himself mentally and emotionally to be good with a person which they do not have the "primary" relationship with. Once they are with the one that they are the most comfortable, they feel free to recover in form of heavy reactions. They are finally able to be themselves with the primary parent. I had it for some time with my LO as wel - he was the most difficult with me only. [b'>It's just a phase and will pass in no time![/b'> My son is 6 yrs old and he still saves it all for me! :D

I also think that daddy's, in general, are a novelty. Because they are not there all the time. When they are with the little one, they are a novelty to them, they save all their good behaviour for the novelty parent and all the tripe for the mummy!! It happens with every child I think!

Whew! Glad its not just me then and yes my DD just turned 2 also. I'm currently thinking this through too so I look forward to reading some responses. I'm thinking of reading something like the baby whisperer toddler version for some ideas about how to deal with her without losing it=-) I've not many answers for you, just a bit of support to let you know your not the only one whose rope is fraying with a 2 year old ;-)
