Hello ladies, I'm due in 9 weeks and want to get the last few bits we need for baby so I can concentrate on moving at the end of the month and then putting feet up! I'm struggling with where to get the bits below at affordable prices - can anyone help? Happy to go to any mall/store in Dubai to get them:

Sun shades for car windows
Sun shade for pram (best to get a parasol or just drape a thin blanket over pram?)
Plain White Muslin Squares - really struggling to find them at affordable price, I want about 30.
Swaddlers with velcro/poppers
An affordable cot bed (No more than around 1500 AED mark - Mamas + Papas/Pottery Barn Kids are making my eyes water!).
As above, but changing table / trolley type affair

I have everything else! Thank you so much in advance!

I bought the moses basket and baby cot all from dubizzle for my first baby. The cot lasted a long time she slept in it till 2 years and gave us time to save up for a real girls big bed. Also you can find real good find on dubizzle. I found the baby bjorn really great for shopping with little baby and also my lil girl loved sleeping bags instead of any blankets. Good luck.

While we are talking about Ikea, i'd recommend their muslin cloth packs too. You get three or four per pack, they are really big and are about 15 or 20 dhs i think per pack. I think theres one plain white and two patterned per pack. I'd say you wouldn't need 30 though! I bought two packs, so had about 6 or 8 and i was fine. I used them to mop spills, rest on my shoulder when burping, as impromptu bibs when i forgot one/couldn't be bothered to get up. They are handy, but not 'i need 30' handy! I know lots of people who have the ikea changing station and love it. Get plenty of different storage pots to keep all your wee bits in. As others have said the ikea cots are good too, i only went with M&P as we were gifted vouchers so went for the full-size cot-bed which will hopefully last forever! Good luck!

For window sunshades, try WindowSox. They're mesh-type shades that fit over the outside of your window and cover the whole thing so no sun sneaks round the sides :). They have a Facebook page and I think I paid 180dhs for two. They come in different sizes for different cars. I second the WindowSox, they are great! Provide excellent shade and are easy to get on and off. And in good weather you can put the window down for fresh air but still have the 'sox' in place for protection. You can't do that with those stick on or roll down jobbies. ;)

Thank you so much ladies, I am really pleased that you have mentioned IKEA, as that was my initial thought re: cots, but thought they might be terrible quality. I am going to have a look and hopefully we can find matching changing table/chest of drawers. Thank you also for all the other tips. Re: getting 30 x Muslin Cloths - was told by mum friends that they are the thing they used most of and I would get through them very quickly and be washing all the time! Maybe I don't need that many?

i would head straight to any Babyshop (individual store or part of the Centrepoint chain)... try and go before the 5th of Feb to get your hands on the best discounts... else, if you have a Gulf News Good Living Book, you can even avail of a 20% discount when the stores are not on sale... they have ALL the items you have mentioned at very very very affordable prices the beds in babyshop (cot bed type) cost around AED 1300... but if you're okay with the drop rail type they come cheaper... they have a whole variety of dressers / changing units... but if you're looking for something cheaper take a quick pop into IKEA as well... the IKEA ones are basic yet functional... Agree - I'm very happy with my cot from IKEA> You might also try mothercare in Dubai Mall - the others are useless but I love the one in DM.

Window shades - mothercare or toys r us I use a muslin cloth or a light blanket. I'm not sure why you need 30 muslin clothes but I got a packet from mothercare and a pack of 3 from ikea. I bought a swaddle blanket by gro-bag in toys r us but to be honest I just used a cellular blanket from mothercare crib size as for some reason DD didn't settle when wrapped in it. I bought the white cot bed from ikea that has two levels and bought the best quality mattress for it. I did have a M &P cotbed in UK for the other kids when they were babies and there is no real difference. I also got the white bumper out of ikea for the cot and then got my bedding out of Zara and I think it looks really good. They also have changing tables. (I was given one here by friend) but I tend to change baby on my knee as it is quicker. You can buy lots of gear but you don't use a lot of it and it is only for a short space of time. I got rid of my baby equipment in UK but DD was a surprise here and had to start again so didn't buy half as much and not missing anything tbh. Invested in buggy and quality mattress for cot. She went straight into cot when born too. During day slept in pram carrycot. Good luck - exciting times xxxxxx
