Anyone with kids at BV?

My DD (15 months+) has been hit really hard with illnesses since starting nursery :( She has never ever a sickly child, never had a temp, infection but since starting nursery we have been at the Dr's almost once a week! So far she has had an E&T infection, followed by bronchitis, followed by croup! She eats healthy home cooked meals and has a multi-vitamin daily - so am doing all I can do maintain a strong immune system, but it just seems like its not enough :\:

Am starting to think its the nursery?! Mums I know with kids in other "well established" nurseries don't seem to share the same story?!

So when is normal - normal and when should I worry? Anyone share the same story with kids at Blossom Village?

TIA

Thanks Mums (completely forgot about this thread)!!! Had a long chat with her Peadiatrician and she said it was completely normal as DD's immune system has been sheltered for the first year of her life, so pretty common! She also mentioned that February is synonymous for kids getting sick at Nursery - climate changes and also new kids starting at the beginning of the year (bringing germs and bugs with them)! She's confident that it has nothing to do with BV as she knows the Nursery very well and it's reputation has always been great! Indeed - DD has been sick every other week since starting, never a repeat illness, always a new one! So her immune system is going through a check list right now and building immunity against all these nasty viruses and bugs! As DD's Peadiatrician has said - rather for her to be sick now, as you can keep her out of Nursery than when she starts school! JulesLC - I've been searching for this Manuka Honey, where can I find it?

my 2 DS are at BV, and generally (*touches wood*!) they are fine! they have both been at nursery since they were 6 months old though, so have built up fairly good immunity. it is normal when they start for them to pick up bugs, but my thoughts are best now rather than at big school! mine have a teaspoon of manuka honey almost every day

My daughter is also going to BV. Before coming here she used to attend a different nursery. She had the same problem in the first nursery in the first year but when i shifted her to BV.. thank God she didnt get so many flus and virals. Must mention that these types of infections and viral problem always come up when babies join nurseries. Specially the first six months are the toughest.. after that their immunity improves. Just keep up with all the good stuff you are giving your kid at home and things will be smooth soon enough :)

DD is at nursery (not BV) and was the same for the first 6 months. It seemed like every other week it was something, and then she would pass it round the house till we were all ill! It has definitely tapered off now, and is rarely ill anymore. I think its a standard side effect of suddenly coming into contact with LOTS of other kids, parents, teachers, toys other kids touch and put in their mouths etc. Its very hard to keep any environment 'germ-free'. Plus parents sometimes send in their kids unwell, or don't realise they are unwell. Its hard, but it does get better!
