The Ameda Lactaline (Purely Yours) comes in cheapest for that class of pump, and has the advantage of being a closed system so there's not even a theoretical risk of contamination. Also, just wanted to give you a heads up on an upcoming breastfeeding seminar run by peer group Breastfeeding Q&A, including a presentation on milk expression by Dr Delphine Dupuis (other topics include the introduction of solids and a dad's role in supporting breastfeeding). Sat 14th April at Latifa Hospital. E-mail [email protected] for details or to register. If you haven't purchased a pump by then, it might give you the opportunity to find out more about the types available, and ask any other questions you may have about milk expression.

Thanks ladies. Has anyone used Philips Avent electronic pump? I checked the Medela pump in style price at Mothercare in MoE, it was 800 drh. Yet to check the Babyshop at DM.

Yes, the ameda pump is really easy to use and sterilise, I actually like that I have less spills than when I used the Medela. This is the email of the distributor [email protected]

I bought the AMEDA one. I think the mods deleted the post. Anyway, it is cheap and as good as the Medela, only 700 dhs from the distributor in Dubai. I got one in October and had heavily used till today, still going strong.

I highly recommend the Pump N Style as well - have used it with 3 children. Unfortunately, they are 2.5x more expensive here than the States. I had mine brought back from the States (from Target) prior to my third child's birth. I will warn you against using a second-hand pump. If the pump sits after use, mold/bacteria can grow on the pump membrane. Medela makes it so that you can't easily clean it..... I know because I tried on my old pump and broke the casing (right before I saw the mold). Good luck and congratulations!

Hi survive... I did some research on this and found that while its loads cheaper to buy online, the shipping pushed the price up (using shop and ship which i found the only option because most places don't delver larger items here). Primarily because the double pumps come with a lot of accessories and packaging which makes it heavy. In the end it was only slightly less than buying it here. And if you get it on sale then it'll actually be cheaper to buy here than have it shipped. If you want a new one, maybe ask someone to bring it if thats an option or wait for a baby shop sale. They offer 25% off usually. There should be one between now and the summer (summer surprises deals). I finally went the Medela Freestyle way because that was much more portable and easy to use I thought than the pump in style. Same motor, but much smaller. I barely used it though because I wasn't able to feed for very long and didn't go back to work. I have it in perfect condition available for sale if you are interested. You can email me at susanpriyadiaz at gmail dot com if you like

Medela pump in style all the way. I tried several heavy duty ones, and none compare. It's quite heavy, so if you have to ship it, might not be much savings left for you after cost of shipping. If you know someone visiting from states or Europe, they can bring it, that's best. But I've seen at Baby Shop here and it didn't seem outrageously priced. If you buy from US, remember to get the plug adapter for UK/Eur plugs here. Also one note: I have the Medela system for feeding and pumping, but would note that last several times I went to Babyshop to buy nipples, they didn't have any medela nipples. Only the pump and accessories for the pump. I can't remember exactly, but think they may also not have had any bottles either. Which is a bit of a pain, to have to then find the bottles and nipples somewhere else. They also didn't have any Medela nipples at the DCC Mothercare last I looked. I've resorted to asking a friend to bring from the US. I do have playtex nipples and Dr. Browns nipples and bottles that integrate with the Medela accessories pretty well. Good luck with your baby and breastfeeding!

Hi ladies, I'm expecting my first baby in July. I need to buy a breast pump in advance as I have to return to work 3 months after birth. Read a lot of reviews about breast pumps and realized that Medela Pump in Style is the best one so far. Any other suggestion? Looking at the websites, I feel buying from stores in Dubai is more expensive. Has anyone bought pumps online yet?
