Most doctors say that by 2 child's immune system is more or less developed. And that's true that kids do fall ill more often at the nursery cause of stress (separation from mom), new environment and other sick children attending nursery cause their parents can't keep them till they are completely recovered. IMHO, if you find a nursery that has great facilities and caring staff, it will help your DD in the long run, cause at 3-4 she will have to start school. So, I would say it's not too early for nursery, even for few days a week

Because I started part time work, we started DD at the nursery when she was 11 months in Feb for 3 hours a day. I was also concerned that she wasn't getting to play enough as playgroups in my area were few and far between. Though I do agree with the posters about kids falling ill more often at the nursery, there are pros as well. Now, DD loves the staff and sitters there and all the toys that she doesn't have at home. I'd like to add that from the experience of friends and family, I feel it's easier to put them in when they are younger or to wait till they are a little more independant and can commnicate well. Like mentioned below, 2 is often an age when they're still learning so many new things and are more clingy. Although, every child reacts to social situations differently, so you'll never know what's in store till you try! Good luck :)

My son started his nursery last week only. He is 25 months old...he loves being with kids. It all depends on you ,how comfortable you are with letting your kid go to school...most of the nurseries here have either 3 day or 5day a week schedule...or you can probably send your daughter to one of the various summer camps which will be starting in July and see how she feels about it...

For me I'd rather wait until my son is 3 years old, toilet trained and able to easily feed himself and communicate fully before I would send him to nursery. I do invest a lot of time taking him to playgroups and scheduled activities most dsys where he can learn to socialise under my guidance. I do think some kids probably are quite outgoing and ready for nursery by 24 months, but I definitely think my son at 21 months still needs me and benefits from my time, and I'd hate to force him into a situation he isn't ready for. You really have to decide for yourself what is right for your child.

When they are close to two years old they naturally get clingy. Its a phase and it will pass. Obviously she is a happy one but I personally would wait until she is 3 so that her immune system is fully developed. Kids at nurseries get sick a lot more than ones who stay at home.
