Hi ladies, i am a march 2012 mummy and having a lot of trouble losing the baby weight!

I gained 20 kilos with my pregancy and have only managed to lose 10kgs...i just cant seem to get the stamina to keep going..i did weight loss yoga for a month but didnt lose a single gram! My muscles did feel good though and i am glad i did it as i improved my flexibility.

Still...what i really need to do is get rid of these flabby thighs and tummy. I know the right foods to eat and my hubby and i are healthy eaters normally...(brown bread, steamed veggies, grilled proteins, etc) but none of it seems to be enough to lose any serious weight. I am back to work now so find it even harder to leave baby once i am home and head to the gym (althought said gym is on the top floor of my building..i know..i know!).

I am just procrastinating and i dont know why :( i am so weary of this extra weight and baby is turning 6 months soon so cant use the 'have just given birth so leave me alone' excuse..

saw a picture of myself recently and i had the dreaded turkey-neck...eeeek! I really need to get into gear but how do i actually sustain this until i get some results?! I cant afford anything like a personal trainer...

Another reason i want to lose weight is if I decide to have another baby i really do not want to gain another 20 kilos on top of the weight i already have on now!

Plumie, the Pure Fitness course looks really good but what a shame that its only in the mornings - what about us working mums, hey? What with the pathetic maternity leave allowance in this country, we only get round to thinking about exercise by the time we get back to work! Also, wish we had more exercise options/mummy boot caps, etc on the mirdif /gusais side where i live...everything seems to be new dubai side :( the good news is i have lost half a kilo in 2 days! i know thats nothing but believe me i wouldnt go a single gram under 78 kilos before... So...yesterdays brekkie: hot lemon water, pear, nectarine lunch: waitrose deli butternut squash and green bean plus a TINY bit of lasagne dinner: packet asparagus soup

DC - I've been umm'ing and amm'ing and SW for a while now, but DH is not convinced?! Convince me please so that I can convince him ;) And are the meals okay for a toddler? DD eats whatever we eat, so it needs to be nutritious for her too! Welcome back :) Thanks :). I wasn't convinced for ages, even though my sister lost so much weight doing it, because you get to eat pasta and potatoes and I just couldn't work out how you lose weight eating that kind of thing. I have all the stuff with me so let's meet up and I'll go over it with you. My two both eat everything I cook on it!

I was 57kgs when I arrived in Dubai (granted, that was 11 years ago but still!) and about 67kgs just pre-pregnancy. I put on about 30kgs with DS thanks to stuffing my face, being an inactive lump and killer water retention from pre-eclampsia. I lost 21kgs in a few weeks after delivery and managed to get back down to 69kgs when DS was 8 months. Then I stopped breastfeeding and put on a few kilos. Then I got pregnant with DD at about 73kgs. I put on about 20kgs with her, same reasons as above. Got down to about 76kgs. Then Dad died and I went back to the UK and the local curry house became my best friend, along with the bakery section in Waitrose. Then I joined Slimming World back in the UK and lost 7kgs in six weeks. I've put a kilo back on in the past couple of weeks thanks to a bit of over-indulgence at weddings and the like, but I'm confident it'll come off again in no time. I feel totally in control of my weight loss and I know I can lose another 15kgs by Christmas, by which time I want to be at my target weight of 60kgs. I know different diets suit different people but I have the utmost faith in Slimming World and I'm so glad I started it. My sister has lost 42kgs following the plan so far, and is on track to lose another 15 to get to her target weight by Christmas. edited by DubaiCat on 07/09/2012

You and me both Ayda247!!! Today was my day too!!! I am the heaviest I have EVER been in my whole entire life! I do have 2 healthy beautiful baby daughters to show for the extra baggage I am carrying ;) So my plan starts tomorrow... Mornings - hot water+lemon+ginger Greek yoghurt with nuts, flaxseed and honey Lunch - Ryvita with something or a salad Dinner - Protein with loads of veg! I've also signed up for a 6 week course with Pure Fitness which starts on Monday! It's core straining for post natal mums, concentrating on the tummy area! I've done some of their classes before and have thoroughly enjoyed it and have seen results! Wednesday mornings - Body Pump at Fitness First and Saturday mornings I do Aqua Circuit, also at the Fitness First! I've taken my "before pictures" tonight and will look at them daily to motivate me! I also have a closet full of clothing which I cannot wear, not to mention shoes too, and it pains me! Feel like I am being held hostage in my own body:/: I feel good about my "resolutions" and KNOW that I can shift at least 10kgs! I'm 70kg now, pre-pre-pregnancy I was 55kg, I'll settle for 60kg, but would be very happy with 58kg :D Good luck everyone, I know I'm going to need it ;)

Hey there I gained a insane 30kg. Lost 8 in first week after delivery.did nothing since I had c-section.i breast fed for 6 months and did gym for 20mins a day for one month In these 6months to loose another 12.but now I'm stuck with the last 10kg and it just doesn't seem to be dropping...baby turns 1 in October so I'm hoping these last 1.5 months should do it for me with walk n swimming. I think breast feeding made a hue difference for me and nowninwish I did not wean at 6 months...

After three pregnancies, I've struggled to lose the last 10kg. No matter how much time I spent at the gym , it wouldn't shift. But my new trainer at Symmetry gym has been fantastic. I lost four inches in six weeks.

Hi ALL AND ALSO K... Well done with that 10k's...you may deliver at 12kilos up and still be in a perfect condition after a week or two of delivery. For the rest of the girls...don't despair! Go and check the diet sites on Google.Huge emphasis on lots of proteins and 20g of carbs a day to loose weight.Carbs must preferably come from green veggies and salads...it's the 1st of Sept today...tell yaselves from today no more cookies or sweet tasting goods or bread till weight is not down...I know the feeling...it feels as if your body is not your own when you have gained...not to say what it does for ya self image....don't have something NOW,iF IT KEEPS YOU AWAY FROM THE SOMETHING (GOOD BODY!) you want later! Good luck and know you are not alone and there are always some girl out there that is dieting successfully...you can be one of them!

and as you say HB, as much as the weight gain sucks, you get to be a mum, and that is totally worth the trade.

I was 56 kg before my first preg, had never been over 60 in my life so was pretty surprised to gain almost 20kg, I think I normally have a fast metabolism and it just slowed right down, sadly breastfeeding for 22 months didn't melt the weight away at all and it took almost a year before I was even close to my original weight. This time around I have been more careful, I only eat when I'm hungry instead of adopting the "eating for 2" mentality (reality is you actually don't really need many more calories than normal). I've only gained 10kg this time (35 weeks now) and plan to force myself into some exercise once the baby is born. Its realistic to expect that any weight that took you 9 months to gain will take at least 9 months to lose, unless you are dieting drastically. Big trap for me first preg was I craved dairy and ate lots of cheese and yoghurt, I felt like that was healthy, but when you actually look at the sugar and fat content, you might as well be eating tubs of icecream.

Wow.. thats so interesting. So the body gains weight in spite of ourselves! I presumed that i I gained more than the average it would be because of lots of extra eating etc but sounds like you walked some and ate well but didnt over do it. Im sorry to hear about the bleeding and I wake up every morning to check as its such a risky business. I envy my friends who have all had the petite like bumpets and hardly looked pregnant from the back. I already look pregnant as Im overweight. Well its all ahead of me I suppose. But I dont mind as Im delighted to be pregnant at least.

Hi Hilsbils, I have had 2 pregnancies and gained 20 kilos both times. I started picking up weight gradually through my trimesters. I worked right up to my last week but otherwise did no exercise as I had some light bleeding this time which made me nervous and shy away from anything 'overly' active..the most exercise i got was walking up and down the malls (which i did a lot of) and coming to work. I didnt eat more than usual really..i actually got admitted into hospital three times for food poisoning as my tummy went really sensitive this time and I couldnt eat anything except really really fresh food so i had to be ever so careful and so didnt really enjoy eating out. My weak point i have to say is my sweet tooth..i find it very hard to go to bed without atleast eating one chocolate digestive..although I am trying to do this less now. Pauls is my idea of HEAVEN :)

Hi Ayda247 I cant help you as I am newly pregnant. But this is a big worry for me. I have always struggled with my weight and managed to lose 10 kgs last year but in recent months Ive not found any energy to exercise, and Im eating too much. Im not a natural athlete! What Id like to know is .. - when did you start to pick up the weight during the pregnancy? - did you exercise whilst pregnant? - did you eat much more than usual? Did the weight just pile on because of hormones & baby growth, or because of lack of exercise and eating? My mum and aunties etc all blew up like whales when pregnant so my genes are stacked against me.
