I was on my way to Ibn Battuta this morning to take DS to the toddler group. When passing the metro station I spotted a little "lump" by the side of the road. I'm pretty sure you already know what I am getting at...
So yes, it was yet an other kitten run over and left for dead only this time it was also decapitated. I said a little prayer for the poor thing and drove on. (probably naive but I was trying to make myself believe that I didn't see it right and the poor little thing wondered onto the road...) when just over the bridge saw yet an other little "lump". This kitten was similar color as the one before and yet again body only. Luckily DS feel asleep so I decided to turn around and go home getting pretty upset by it all.
Unfortunately I saw a third "lump" just by the metro car park before getting on to SZR. Body only, same coloring as the previous two.

Really disgusted and upset by it all. It is also very scary as whoever does stuff like this must be mentally disturbed. And what if once they bored with abusing animals move on to children?????
Is there anything I/ we can do?? Feeling teary and so powerless :-(

its a noble intention to spread awareness, but how much would it change? It would only horrify good decent people, but have little effect on the actual perpetrators. This kind of cruel bent of mind is learned at the knee, aggression is a normal reaction and is not checked when displayed, how will these types of people ever change? "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing " Edmund Burke. Fretty every little but helps if you did get it into 7 days well done,it spreads awareness. IMHO it needs to addressed in schools, education is the key. edited by Nomad on 02/05/2013

Not sure if much will happen but you could try reporting to Dubai Municipality or (if anyone knows if they do anything about this sort of thing) Al Ameen? After all it is a criminal behaviour and could lead to crimes against people... Unfortunately I have not much fate in Al Ameen as good as they are with many issues as I reported stuff regarding animals before (been approached by a guy who kind of forcefully wanted to buy my rescue saluki mix for "dog competition")

Unfortunately foul play involving kittens does take place in Dubai. A few years ago, there was a very sad story on the front page of 7 days about a group of boys who had fun throwing kittens onto SZR near Crowne Plaza and seeing how long it took for them to get run over. Everyone was very shocked but I'm not sure anything was done about it :-(

What a horrible thing to see ... there are so many very strange people in this world, strange and sick and should be locked up and the key thrown away. As you suggest, sometimes these types of offenders start with animals and move on to people. I don't know what one can do about such things. Insha'allah the kittens were killed quickly and did not suffer, although if a sadist, I doubt that. Unless caught in the act, (and would be severely dealt with here by law), these people can get away with this behaviour indefinitely, escalating each time. It is a sorry statement for our society (or lack there of).

Yes its awful, and no nothing much can be done. Remember how an iguana was stoned and people actually wrote in and defended it by saying "we are not Discovery Channel type of people". There was supposed to be petitions and what not, did anything actually happen after that, I doubt it.. Some people might be mentally disturbed, but as long as they hurt animals, its ok. Politicall correctness means you cannot say anything more

Are you saying that the person decapitated the cats and tossed them out of the car or happened to hit three cats in three separate incidents? Yes, that's what it looks like to me
