Good morning ladies...unfortunatly this was my experience..i reported my feelings to the nurse manager and i do appreciate her followup..she was surprised that after 4 days no one informed me about breastfeeding classes..it seems they were crazy busy and it all about miscommunication between the nurses..i was very honest in describing my feeling..and they took my complain in a positive way..it is time to enjoy and bond more with my baby..:)..
Hi Curlyhair80. Sorry you feel that way. I delivered at City a week ago by c-section and found the staff and department excellent. I was only visited by the nurse to check temp and blood pressure, and to give medication. Obviously on the first day post c-section this more often. I found that if I needed the nurse in between then I only had to press the call button and they promptly came. I think the fact that you are in a private room can make you feel much more isolated(I actually liked that though) than if you were on an open ward. I know from friends experiences in the UK you get monitored far less and my SIL was discharged the day after her c-section. As I said if you feel that you need more support call the nurse and ask them. It's a big busy ward and unless you make them aware of your needs they won't be able to help.
Congratulations by the way. Enjoy the time alone with your little bundle before you go home. Once home my hormones went wild and I was an emotional wreck. I longed for my quiet hospital room!!
Good luck.
I forgot to say, I was also visited by a pain management nurse and a physio. Also, if I had problems with feeding the midwives were very helpful with helping and also advised and helped when I became engorged.

Hi,
Sorry tht you had such a bad experience with city but I'm quite surprised . I delivered at city earlier this year and the stay was very comfortable. I had a normal delivery and the nurses kept on checking on my baby often. Infac I sent away the nurse when it was bath time (as I was feeding)but she promptly came back after an he or so to remind me about bath time. Their physio came and thought me various exercises and chatted about a lot of things. Although I met a Breast freeding consultant she was just awful. The only thing that put me off was my Dr was travelling the next day and during my two day stay no other Dr/ nurses checked on me, on the day I was discharged I insisted a Dr see my stitches but a nurse came and said everything's okay! I still don't know why another Dr didn't visit me. Is this how it works here??
I am posting from my bed at the maternity unit at the city hospital..just want to share my bad experience...u just feel left alone suffering without any support..there is no system..u have to remind the nurse about shower time for z baby..she will come 5 hours lateron..it is just a mess..i have pain post c section and the baby is just left with me,they dont come to check if i need support without me pressing the bell...no breastfeeding consultant ...!!!!!+++
