"Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind it doesn't matter." M. Twain & my favourite quote since I hit 40 last year Happy Birthday and look forward to all the fun & good times ahead!

PS - just found this and thought I'd share. Some brilliant quotes there!! http://thinkexist.com/quotations/40th_birthday/ Just love this one ..... [i'>[b'> “The best years of a woman's life - the ten years between 39 & 40”[/b'>[/i'> :);)

Nice idea Lovely, and great to hear from those that have been there & proudly worn the t-shirt :-) I guess I'd best just embrace it and stop moaning - with age comes wisdom afterall, oh and attitude, and if I stop looking too closely in the mirror I can just about ignore the onset of wrinkles (sorry I meant laughter lines) :-) So, time to start dropping some desert sized hints to DH about the location of Tiffany's ;) Oh and a BIG happy birthday for those others with their naughty forties looming :)

Here's a tip........make sure someone takes a pic of you on the day, then leave it in a drawer for twenty odd years, then take it out, you'll be amazed at how great you looked, and REALLY mad with yourself for not realising it at the time! Loved my forties, and my fifties........and sixties aren't bad either!!

I did a tandem parachute jump for my 40th...now wondering how to beat it for my 50th which is approaching fast! No point in worrying about it, nothing we can do to stop it, celebrate it if you are lucky enough to be healthy and happy otherwise.

I turned 40 last November and I am still trying to get over it :( [i'>*sad and pathetic but able to admit it*[/i'> WHAT?! Come on CT - you're halfway through the Shredding (I couldn't even possibly think of beginning it) and you're healthy - that's something to celebrate being 40 about. Getting healthy and fit are my Lifestyle Changes for 2011 as I approach 40.

I'll be 40 in April. How I used to dread coming up to this milestone, but in the last year I truly am looking forward to it. I'm in a good place in my life, have a great family both here and back home and the love and support of a wonderful man - what more could I want?! 40 & Fabulous!!!!

...Just twixed and between whether to celebrate it or not? Head in the sand syndrome makes me just want to ignore it, then again another small part of me wants to make it a huge land mark birthday celebration. ... CELEBRATE!! At almost the last minute I decided a breakfast with friends was my celebration of choice (I had a new baby so was pretty limited in choices!) and we had a really lovely morning. Whatever you choose to do, it is a bit of a milestone birthday and worth marking in some way with people who mean something to you. xx

I wouldn't want to turn the clock back age wise. I'm 55 and happy in my skin! In my 20s and 30s it was running after kids, trying to fit all sorts in. In my 40s it was teenager strops etc although my 2 were actually OK. I hit my 50s and DH and I can do as we please, are a couple again with the kids off our hands. Don't care about the trivia I did when I was younger and we're both healthy and happy and will be even happier once we leave Doha this Friday!!!! :D :) Mega like :) Thanks Joyce ;-) xxx PS - good luck with your move!! Thanks x Really should be packing instead of sitting on here eh?? :D x

I feel your pain Loopy Lotti, I hit the big 40 in 4 weeks too!! I'm going with the 'Life begins at 40' way of thinking and have lots of celebrations, a holiday and a girls weekend away planned! Enjoy whatever you decide to do.

Ahhhh thanks ladies :-) I know I'm as old as I feel and it IS just a number. My face n body have been kind over the years so I really shouldn't be down. The big day is 3 weeks away yet so I have time to get my head around it ....... Just twixed and between whether to celebrate it or not? Head in the sand syndrome makes me just want to ignore it, then again another small part of me wants to make it a huge land mark birthday celebration. Not sure DH has even registered the fact so I'm fairly sure there's no big surprises on the horizon - lol. Freckles - LOL!!! Yes, I'm with you on that one ;-) x PS - went for a medical yesterday and the GP said 'so you're 40 years of age' ....to which I replied 'NO, not quite' ..... he looked confused for a second ..... so I stormed back with ....'if you look at my birth date you'll see I'm a few weeks away from 40' ............. He really didnt get it!!!! :-( edited for poor grammar - still poor but the best I can do for now :-) edited by Loopy Lotti on 17/01/2011
