OP, do a search on here for maids threads. They might give you an idea of the realities of having a maid in Dubai...... to recap off the top of my head, you are overpaying her, her BF MUST not be allowed to stay because it is illegal (and I bet she knows that), and the demand for a bigger food allowance is just the start of a long litany of blackmailing demands, playing on your Western sensibilities . Frankly, clamp down and get tough ,or get rid of her now.

I pay my live-in helper 2500 AED per month she has been with me 3 years.... flight per year has 1.5 days of per week...I believe this to be a fair salary for her and it works well for both concerned parties...

I think its totally unreasonable actually. its way above the standard. if you wish to give her more, by all means give it as a performance-based bonus or year-end bonus. I usually take it upon myself to see the maids children through schooling. for this I get in touch with the school back home and pay fees directly. Also if the child stops attending school or performance drops I threaten to withdraw! No boyfriends allowed and in any case you may regret it later when you find them both in your living room one day when you come home early and unexpected.

if she is demanding more than I would lay down the law a bit... or get rid. Fed up with hearing about maids getting pushy. It sounds like you are being very generous esp boyfriend bit which personally I wouldn't like.

You are being more than generous, Average wage for a Filipino is 1500 with a flight home every one or two years but thats up to you. If she thinks she can find better than I suggest you let her go and find someone as I'm not sure many families would allow boyfriends to stay over. I certainly don't. If your helper gets pregnant and it has and does happen and I speak from experience and they are not married well you know the rest.

Having seen various threads on this in the past. The majority of replies will probably say it's too much! The boyfriend cannot stay as it's illegal for unmarrieds to stay together, 1 flight per year and you should give her a food allowance.
