My DD is back on holiday and subscribed to the Etisalat AED 49 BB package, she didn't change any settings just slotted in the SIM card and started using it, however her BB battery life is just a few hours and it's driving her crazy. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? In the UK she has a Vodafone contract but her BB is unlocked.

Constantly using data drains the battery, things like whatsapp, the net, fourquare and gps are all battery drainers.

Thanks for the suggestions - I will get her to take it into Virgin over the weekend, seems the best idea. It's a Curve 8520 and it works just fine in the UK!

Take it into virgin. They may be able to sort it out. We had problems with my daughters phone, and they updated all the software for free.

Bluetooth drains the batter, as does the GPS function.

I've heard a certain version of 'whatsapp' application also drains the blackberry battery. Although my 'whatsapp' is working fine and is not draining the battery. edited by Diamante on 21/04/2011 I've also been told that Whatsapp drains the battery. When I first loaded it onto my BB my battery kept going dead but now it lasts at least a day

try updating the software like knadia says. Also check your settings for the network. Only phone should be selected. Otherwise, head to an outlet to get it checked.

I have had the same issues, does she have the new Bold 2 its just a disappointing phone compared to the previous ones. I used some of the suggestions made here and it helped a bit http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/saving-your-blackberry-battery-life-88495/ Also, my battery used to drain in 3 hours the first time i started using it took it back to the shop and they upgraded the software ( it was an internal issue) that helped a lot. edited by knadia on 21/04/2011
