Cara / Clara Jewellery in Gold & Diamond Park, FGB Metro Station is the best place to sell / exchange gold in Dubai... Never ever try any other stores in GOLD SOUQ / BUR DUBAI... they all try to cheat people saying, you don't have invoice (who has invoice), it's outside the country gold (no value in dubai), gold rate is less, melting charges etc etc... Even though you will get 5 to 10 AED less from the current market price, but they pay you after check the quality of the product... They are really good.

My friend recently sold a load of old gold at Cara jewellers in the gold & diamond souq. She had it all shoved together in a plastic ziploc bag and thought she might get a few hundred Dihrams. She got about 14 thousand!! She was thrilled to bits. She didn't have a receipt, most of it had been given to her as a teenager when she lived in Bahrain. Cara gave her the up-to-date price for gold on the day, and I think at the time she was selling, it was particularly high, so might be worth keeping an eye on that yourself and make your decision on which day to sell. It spurred me into having a rake into my own gold jewellery, and I intend to do the same soon! Exactly.. This is buying time..

YOu can sell your gold at any shop provided you have a receipt or you can even sell it without a receipt if you know your jeweler or have bough the item from the store you selling it back to. You will loose less value if you exchange it.

I have previously sold some gold items in the souk. It's preferable that you have a receipt to show ownership of the gold. They'll take a copy of your passport/EID and contact details as they have to report the items to CID.

I have no personal experience, but I have seen signs on some of the store windows that they buy old gold.
