Daily disposable contacts are made from a different (cheaper) material so they are not meant for multiple handling, may easily attract protein deposits and not meant to be stored in the cleaning solution for any length of time once you break them out of their original packaging. I have noticed some "warpage" in lenses if kept for the next day use which translates to discomfort to the wearer. So like all the other suggested, it's best to keep the dailies to their 1 day use only to avoid possible discomfort and worse, infections. :)
They are meant for what the say on the box and for a reason. I was the same, used monthlies before but here I was getting regular eye infections. As soon as I switched to dailies, and used them daily and then threw them away, Ive not had any eye infections. Occasionally I have forgotten to take them out and I wake in the early hours with dry eyes. Dailies = wear them once, when you take them out, bin them.
no... basically, no. They're not designed to function or last beyond a day, or rather one application and removal. I've worn the 18 month soft, monthlies and dailies over the past 23 years, so kind of know how far you can push!
Aside from the cleaning issues (they're not designed to be cleaned), they will become less comfortable more quickly. My old monthlies felt stronger and less disposable, but I switched to dailies after getting a series of nasty eye infections and haven't looked back since (geddit?! haha!).
They do what they do. If you want contacts that last longer, look to monthlies. BUT out here, in these kind of temperatures, you have to be very careful about how you clean and store them.
I wear them and to be honest I don't think it's a good idea to keep them. It's not so much the length of wear, it's that you have no way of cleaning them or keeping them sterile. Every time you touch them to insert or remove, they'll be exposed to bacteria.
can these be worn for longer than a day...say a few days... if worn sparingly (like an hour or so at a time) or must they be thrown down the drain within a day of opening regardless of "wear"?
