Have you seen my dog? Unfortunately, she got out last night around 10 or 11pm, I think. She's a three year old Bernese Mountain dog, Black, tan and white, answers to the name Guinness.

Great news! I am so happy to hear Guinness is home! Why did the Emaar security at M7 not call you (if it was them who found him)? I can't understand that, they called Dubai Municipality and not the owner. If anyone has any contacts within Emaar maybe we could find out the policy of security re lost/found pets and get it reviewed? Yes, it's a bit strange. Apparently, Guinness sat with the guard for quite a few hours - long enough for some other resident of Springs 3 to see her and play with her. Then we handed out posters to all the guards and still none of the guards said anything. It would be helpful if the guards knew what to do if they find a lost dog - besides call the municipality!!! But I have to say, she seemed well treated at the municipality. She wasn't hungry at all when she came home, so she must have been well fed. And she was in a fairly large enclosure that seemd clean. When I went to the gate at M7 to get your phone number guinness, the guards had no idea what I was talking about and when I made it clear it took them a very long time to find the poster you had made. Sometimes I think it depends on the guard, because at our gate we have often had the posters actually put up in the windows so they can be seen. Having said that, we now seem to have a rather weird rota system going on with the guards and you don't seem to get the same ones every day.

I suggest you check throughly for ticks and even do a frontline on her now that she's been in the municipality, dogs that stay there even for a few days contract a bunch. Glad you found her though, must be a relief.

The time I found a dog at Springs 6 I asked the guards to keep it while I walked my dog (didn't have a spare lead with me and thought if the owner was looking for it they may go the the gate) - by the time I came back from walking mine, they had a senior guard contacting the Municipality to have it uplifted, so I just tucked my dog under my arm and put his lead onto the other dog and took it home. I then walked round the compound till I found someone that recognised the dog and took it home. It seems that the guards don't use initiative, but just follow the rules they have. As I said on another post, if you need help to walk your dog Guinness, I am willing to help out, as it must be a struggle at times with the kids - call me edited by jillp on 24/03/2011

Completely agree CP it's madness that this family went through all those days when the security should just phone the number on the collar.....

Morning everyone! I saw your posts this morning and yes, the dog in the picture was Guinness. I didn't take the time to respond this morning, just got my DH out of bed and we went down to the municipality - thanks for the directions, we found it without any trouble. Very big thanks to the women who called this morning - especially to the woman who came to the Meadows 7 gate and the one who went all the way down to Spinney's to get my number. We are so happy to have Guinness back!!!

So glad she's home safe :):) lol! wonder how many phone calls she got from crazed EWer's this morning!

Oh my goodness - I didn't see Guiness request for directions until now...... I know exactly where it is and am very happy to take you there this morning - let me know if you want me to do that.... Looking at this dog it sounds just like hers......it's got a collar on - can no-one get the guys at the municipality to call the number if there is one on the collar..????? surely a dog like this would be chipped. they need to re-check and see if they can hook the dog back up with it's owner and it would be sooo good if it was Guiness. Just another thought - can they call the dog Guiness and see how it reacts?

THE DM are calling Guinness Australian Shepherd that's why they are telling you that your dog is not there. If this is Guinness in the photo I uploaded, you need to be there tomorrow early as she is crying to be out and I am sure she will be soooo happy to see you :)

If it's the same place as where the municipality vet is, it's at Khawaneej. From SZR go to the airport and keep driving past terminal 1 and 3. You'll go past the new Emirates HQ as well. Keep in the lane for Khawaneej and go past the Arabian Centre mall on the left. I think there is a roundabout (or two) but keep going until you're past the mall and then look out for signs for the municipality vet section on the right. There's a little service road you take and you have to turn in and more or less double back on yourself, then the vet is a little way up on the left. Do you need a lift in the morning? My directions are pretty rubbish but I'm sure I can find it.

Guinness, google "Dubai municipality vet section" and choose "get directions" and google map will show you exactly how to reach, it is on the other side of mirdif. And get a 1000dhs cash with you or some more, they charged last time this amount for a german shepherd who was badly injured and in order not to put him to sleep, they took 1000dhs to release him! Best of Luck!

Would like to reiterate the last post, get down there asap, they don't always call or check the microchip, friends of ours had called twice and been told no their dog wasn't there, a kind lady from expat woman had advised them that she had seen a dog matching the description of theirs down there, after another visit, when once agin he was told his dog wasn't there, he happened to spot him as he was leaving, happy ending....fingers crossed for you as well.

You must be there 1st thing in the morning. A lady who save lot of dogs from municipality said before that there are many dogs who are microchipped but they dont check them all... Many dogs are put to sleep there unless an animal lover saves them and pay municipality releasing fee. I am trying to get you their location and I hope all is well with Guinness.
