DH announced last night I have to schlep along to the Emirates ID place in Barsha this afternoon. Can anyone give me foolproof directions, please? I'm coming from Springs. Thanks :).

It's my day to go there, at last - does anyone know if the road lay-out has changed again in the last few weeks?

Thank you for posting, DC :) I had time to spare this afternoon, so went to find it. Haven't done that road for a while as normally get the SZR out of the Greens - what a shock :) I'm so glad there was this thread here, as otherwise I'd have got more than usually lost and would probably still be somewhere up the Al Khail Road, going round and round the roundabout wondering which exit to get :) It was the McDonald's and the petrol station which clinched it for me :) Thanks, CID :)

I left the house at 1.50pm, so around 25-25 minutes? Having to go all the way up to turn round took a while. I'm in Springs 1 so right on the edge.

Thanks for the update, DC :) Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to get there, and from which Springs (I'm in the Meadows 9, which is right at the back of the area and adds at least an extra 5 mins to every journey!)? I've got to do a practice run. Also got to take dog to vet again for scooting. Should combine the two.

Job done. I got there at 2.10pm and was out by 2.35pm. The directions below are spot on! You come past the racing club and go up to the lights where you can see the new Saudi German Hospital on the other side of the new flyover, and bear right. There's no U-turn so you need to go up to the flyover bit where you can loop round on yourself (not the first turnoff to Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi, the one for Al Sufouh and Palm Jumeirah instead). Then keep in the right hand lane and it's the building literally just before the petrol station. DH said the Karama office told him a two-month wait when he went this afternoon but I forgot to ask at Barsha.

I picked up my ID card from the PO, only 3 weeks since I went for registration and was told it would be 6-8 weeks.

Just to add that its now taking 2 months to get your ID once you go for your appointment! Al Barsha did tell me it would be a week! Already been waiting 7 weeks now :(

Ain't that the way, DC - the link I sent was carefully set to an enlarged version of the Al Barsha centre, or so I thought - don't you just lurve Google maps :) Good luck, please let us know how you get on :) CIDXB, I'm coming from the Springs side, too (you obviously can't imagine anyone having such bad navigational skills as I do, or you'd know there would be no other way that I would know where The Greens are:) Things are getting worse, please send chocolate :) For some reason, I cannot make it without taking a scenic route, to either Dubai London Medical Clinic nor the Dubai London Dental Centre, yet I'm making quite regular trips there. I get more and more lost every time. I blame the GPS.). Ah, thanks for the explanation, Nutty, I haven't been down that way for about a fortnight. Just when I thought I knew where I was going, too! It'll no doubt have changed by the time I have to go there, anyway, but I think I'll go and have a look for The Road With No Name, beforehand :)

Haha, I was speaking to Simple about coming from Arabian Ranches - I remember you're coming from Springs, ha! Who's on first? You'll find it. There aren't that many 'major' roads around there, and as long as you keep thinking "McDonald's Breakfast", you'll be good :)

I've found this map, but can't work out the name of the road the ID place is on :) Typical :) Oh, I see the number 611. Does that road have another name, anyone, please? http://www.emiratesid.ae/en/use-google-map.aspx I finally worked out how to actually see the map in detail. I probably shouldn't admit that in public. I think I know where I'm going now (thanks saabc) so I shall report back later. If nobody's heard from me by tomorrow morning, please bring more snacks, drinks and tissues to the Barsha ID office :D.

I'm coming from Springs. I think I can visualise it but my navigational skills leave a lot to be desired! Snacks, drinks and tissue? So I'd better leave DS at home then?! Oh dear...

Roundabout at Jebel Ali race track, go straight till you get to the traffic lights where they are building the new flyover. You can now only go left here towards the Al Khail rd, keep going till you reach the traffic lights you take a left, go to the roundabout and come back on yourself and head back in the direction you came(this is due to major traffic works and road closures in the last few days!) You will have gone over khail rd on the way to and from. Look out for big sign Emirates id as you approach the petrol station on the RHS.

Simple, you've got it right. Aren't you coming from Arabian Ranches, though (or am I thinking of someone else)? It's SO easy from the Ranches, two roads. - Emirates Rd then the road towards Barsha. You said you see 611 on there. I drove on that road the first day it ever opened and have called it The Road With No Name ever since then. Emirates ID place is on the right, just before the gas station with McDonald's breakfasts (priorities straight, please) Cat - yes, you've got it too. Take snacks, drinks and tissue.

Oh, dear, I must be visualising Jebel Ali horseracing track in quite the wrong place,as I can't place the right hand turn you're talking about. Is there a Master's in getting lost in Dubai? I think I'd qualify. I've found this map, but can't work out the name of the road the ID place is on :) Typical :) Oh, I see the number 611. Does that road have another name, anyone, please? http://www.emiratesid.ae/en/use-google-map.aspx So, I'm imagining the roundabout when coming from the direction of the Lakes, you've gone past Regent International School on your left, the race-track is the first exit off the roundabout on your right, straight ahead leads to a set of traffic lights which take you either convolutedly to the SZR on your left or the Al Khail road to the right, and the third, left-hand turn-off sends you to Greens/Tecom. Have I got the wrong traffic lights after the Jebel Ali race-track? Could anyone help, please? Sorry to be a pain, I've only got till April 10th to find my way there, best start now ;)

Yes, turn right at the traffic lights after Jebel Ali Horseracing track, keep in left hand lane go along this road until the first slip road off (signposted for The Palm etc) and follow round to do a U turn then back. As you come along stay in the right hand lane, do not take any turn off. As you see the fuel station you will go into that lane (traffic cones divide road and the ID place is before the fuel station so be alert to a break in the cones to get into the parking (sandy area). There will porbably be quite a few vehicles already parked. HTH

I searched before I posted and came up with nothing. So I searched google, and got a thread with directions. I guess searching 'Emirates ID Barsha' isn't good enough to find a thread entitled 'Emirates ID place in Barsha' :\:. As I read it, I need to go along the road between the Greens and Al Khail, past the racing club, and take right just before the lights. Then do the first U-turn and it'll be somewhere on the right as I go back down towards SZR. Does that sound about right?
