PS - If you go to Santorini, do the donkey rides that go down the twisty path on the side of the cliff. Best laugh you will have! :D "Slowly Donkey! Donkey slowly!"? hehe - had me chuckling for years!

Greece is gorgeous in Spring although the it may still be chilly. Remember to pack jackets. I would definitely recommend Santorini- it is stunning with some of the best sunsets in the world-extremely romantic. Crete is massive and you could spend a whole holiday there, so I am not sure of its worth it. I would spend some time in Athens-visit cape Sounion, the new museum, the Acropolis, stroll through the Thisseion area. Then perhaps you can do Santorini, which is in the Cycaldes (group of islands), then perhaps Corfu and Cephallonia (Kefallonia-where Captain Corelli's mandolin was filmed). Other beautiful islands are Skiathos and Skopleos. On the mainland it is worth travelling to Meteora, Nafplion. It is endless. Greece is a wonderful place with varied scenery and tons of interesting places to visit. If you are travelling close to the 24th April, you will be experiencing a Greek easter. It is fabulous! Hope this helps. :))) We would be there April 24th....is there anything we should do or experience during Greek Easter? You got me excited.... ....well, you all did!! Thanks! I guess I'll be doing lots of googling tomorrow! Yay for vacation!! Be there Saturday 23rd, go to a Greek Orthodox Church for the midnight service. Light candles, bash red eggs, let off firecrackers, then go off for the traditional avgolimono soup. Some families eat their roast lamb or kid then, others save it for lunch the next day. And don't forget the Paschal bread, and the chitterlings! Jealous, much, ego?! edited by simpleasabc on 29/03/2011

Done Santorini, Ios and Paros. All beautiful and offered us something different. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is do NOT miss out on Santorini. It is heaven on earth... and then some! Oh i am so jealous, I want to go back there! PS - If you go to Santorini, do the donkey rides that go down the twisty path on the side of the cliff. Best laugh you will have! :D

We spent a couple of days in Athens, then a week in Paros (beautiful and unspoilt - hire a scooter (this was pre-kids) - and a day trip to Delos, which is astounding) then a week on Santorini (amazing) and a week in Crete 9in Xania) All in all, one of the most wonderful holidays I've had.

OMG!!! this is the most gorgeous place.......3 weeks!!!!!!!!! im jealous!! OK you dont mention Athens? Once you land in Athens you could spend a day or two there and thats enough. Just walk through the city, the markets. The night life is pretty vibrant. The little street side deli's The night markets, flea markets and restaurants. The islands are to die for. We had only 5 days that we split in between Santorini and Mykonos. You must go to both. Mykonos for its bars and night life and Santorini for this one resort we stayed in...you could just spend a whole week sitting right there and not have enough! Its called Aghios Artemios guest house....trust me, you will not want to leave!! www.aghiosartemios.gr ( the place is even more beautiful than it looks in the photos) The hosts are most amazing and so is the service. We rented a car ( online) and the guy was there at the airport with the car. You could even ask the hotel to arrange a car for you. Get your international drivers liscence. Its important to be mobile there, unless you love to walk - if you dont have kids travelling with you. You have the option to either fly or ferry your way from Athens to the islands. Mykonos accomodation is not as great as Santorini, its a lot more commercial and you will just get your regular hotels. Simple with nto very great service. Nothing resorty or fancy...pretty crowded in general with a lot of tourists. You will have to go to little italyand the market area for your evening drink and the sunset. The favourite attraction at all the islands is the sunset and most of the islands being as tiny as they are, you could litterally get the sunset view from every hotel. Nevertheless ask them what view your room will have when you book, but you will spend your sunset time in a restaurant with a view for sure. I could go again and again!!! and i could go on...and on... We went in september. After which the ferry's dont ply ( to the islands) due to weather conditions and not all the islands have airports, so time your trip well. Enjoy !!! edited by gogi on 07/02/2011
