Hi ladies,

I need some advice on taking over a maid, already working in here Dubai with her visa coming up for renewal. Her current sponsor needs to cancel her visa and we (my husband as new sponsor) then transfers / re-issues her visa with him as new sponsor, do the necessary paperwork, pay fees etc. How does this work, how long does it take and do you have any special advice here or things I have to pay attention to? Thanks in advance!

I would like to know that as well as I am in the same situation. The lady I want to hire is with an agency. Her visa is expiring and we agreed that she will go home and then come back on my sponsorship. Is it possible to do the transfer without her leaving the country without problems? Can the agency refuse to give the release papers or ban her? edited by Eli1979 on 17/01/2011

If they cancel her visa she will get release papers. You take the release paper and her passport to sort the whole process. You will have 30 days from the date that her passport is cancelled to do your side of paperwork. You cannot start the process without release papers. It is quite a simple process if you know how. Better still get your DH's PRO to sort it out for you.

Thanks to both for answer, link is very usefull! I'm just in a strange situation about the maid, it is more like sponsor trouble than the maid one. The maid (we want to sponsor) told me that her contract is expired on the 01/15 and she want to come and work for us asap. When I called her sponsor asking for the transfering visa process, the wife on behalf of her hus told me that they will cancel her visa and transfer it to me if we accept to let her come and work for them in the evening untill their new maid comes (in about 2/3 months from now). Well, I answered her we couldn't accept because it is illegal to share a maid if I unsdertood well about the labor law concerning maid's job and we don't want to have any trouble vis à vis of the law. Following by a lot of anger from the wife, she said a lot of thing in Arabic I could'nt understand except inc'***alla. Anyway, just want to ask how long a sponsor can keep a visa "unrenewal" and if we start processing the sponsoring application for the maid, since her contract is expired, what do we risk? Do we need any paper from the current sponsor to take over the maid? Thanks again for your advice. hope you all can understand my "frenchglish" :(

Hi, we have a cleaner/nanny lady in France but not a maid, it is quite easy in France so don't really know how does this work in Dubai. what to do to transfer her visa to us as new sponsor. If any link or website you can guide me to look for information, I'll be gratefull.

Hi Paris Be very sure that the present sponsor is not hiding anything from you. You are saving them the cost of paying for a flight home for their maid, so it is in their best interest that she finds a job to transfer to. I assume that you have had maids before and know the route.
