HI All
wondering whether anyone is leaving in the next couple of months - and leaving behind a housemaid who they would really recommend? ours is leaving in april after 20 years - and we are devastated as she is like part of the family - so are looking to find someone who we can feel the same about (and like all family's we've had our ups and downs!). even the threat that she's taking my husband with her if she goes, can't convince her to stay lol!
we are specifically looking for Filipino, to live in, in mirdif. (separate living quarters)
i have put an add on the classifieds page - but feel that a recommendation is always the best way to go?
grateful for any responses.
thanks all

Hi rhubarb. I might also have someone who fits the bill again a slightly older Fillipino lady. She has worked for us for the past couple of years - the reason she is leaving is because I am pregnant And will be finishing up at work soon. The main reason we had someone was to look after my son when he finished school so of course I can do that now. If you are interested send me an email And I can let u have further info or contact details. Dandgbanks at googlemail dot com no spaces

well, finger's crossed! . think it will definitely solve a few problems for all. on a serious note tho, SS - we will need to speak at some point so please give me a call when you are 'in the mood' so we can go over the finer-points. i guess it would make more sense, once i've seen her/we've met up? lol on the secrets act, i must remember to do that with mine!! (and i was thinking more of tongue removal!!)

Rhubarb, does it have to be a Phillipino lady? We have a lovely Sri Lankan lady (age 50) working for us. We are leaving Dubai in 2 months time and I would like to help her find a new job as she is trying to build a house back home. She has dogs in Sri Lankan and is a good housekeeper, just gets on with the job.

long as she's not posting on FB, posing in the bath in me bikini (not that i have one, of course!) like another posters maid! mind you, i would have a good cackle first - before i beat 7 kinds of cr*p out of her.........and I'M JOKING before everyone gets on their soap boxes. please GOD she's 'the one' - so can't be a*sed with all this housemaid malarky - as you can imagine after being in the comfort zone i have been for the last 20!

Fab, thanks so much (think i deleted too many posts by mistake! all sounds good, please do ask her to ring me. we're in mirdif (if that makes any difference) and we're not looking for someone to re-invent the wheel (which by the sounds of it is a bl**dy good job, lol) just someone to keep the house clean, potter in the garden and look after the dog. might want to have a wee 'chat' with you after, if she does call/is a goer (so to speak!). would that be okay?

ROTFLMAO!!!! great, she sounds fab - we want someone older. may i ask why she's leaving you (so to speak!) Because i will end up killing her if she stays? LOL Had her three years, kids older and off at boarding just don't need her and do find her annoying as we have down sized and i want to be maid free now. But she's ok, she's older, trustworthy and does work hard. She's not the brightest bunny in the pack but harmless (unless you are a hover or an Iron) LOL She's been in Dubai for years and worked for an Arab family previously, likes to natter on and is slightly deaf and her false teeth drop out quite often, her eye sight is not what it should be although i have bought her new glasses and she struggles to sew now. If she were a horse i'd have put her down but she just needs a nice gentle job for a few years to finish her retirement fund!

omg, i've been away. ROFPMPL!! i've just read it out loud to my husband and he thought it was a wind up!! now!!! this is going to kill you after all that - but she sounds perfect!!! we're two very chilled peeps, as long as she looks after the dog, likes gardening and can clean - thats all we ask!! our current one is 50+ and doesn't kill herself either. the teeth might scare me but for the rest - it sounds like the current one!! right. when everyone has had their say on that, i'll post again (this thread is providing some good, light entertainment, if nothing else, eh girls??)

You swear at your maid?! :\: Oh well, at least it's all out there and clears the air...none of this passive-agressive bad atmosphere hanging around..... Of course i do! She got upset when i used to say i was going to kill her, took it too literally so now i just use profanities when needed, far better. Don't worry she mutters jibberish back really well.

Somehow I can't see SS62 giving a gushing, glowing referral...in fact, think that's as good as it gets... edited by Sugarbeach on 30/01/2011 Yes! LOL She can clean a floor day in day out regardless of whether it is dirty, has mastered the use of the Dryer, dishwasher and washing machine, is familiar with all brands of Iron and hovers on the market in Dubai, Lord knows we have been through most of them. Can wield them around the furniture with only the odd knock and uses the hover to sweep up the sand outside nicely. Is familiar with lawnmowers, she's broken two just moving them not actually using them. Does like gardening and running around after madam clearing up, good at looking after the animals when we are away, well they are normally all alive when we get back so some may say this is good, (DH always dissapointed that the maid has not managed to reduce numbers down a little). She never would steal, this has to be a big bonus for any maid in Dubai, does mutter abuse back when sworn at, but if she didn't she'd be a woss. Never questions hours of work or complains just gets on with it.

with such a glowing referral SS, I am surprised she hasnt lept at the opportunity... I like to be honest with these things, less of a shock at interview when her teeth drop out as she asks to have the question repeated. ROFL!
