Hi,

We are moving to Dubai in a couple of months and wondered if bringing our maid with us is an easy process? Also wondered how hard is it to find maids and what is the average salary for live in maid or a part time maid?

Thanks

Thanks for all your comments. We will speak to our maid and ask if she would like to relocate to Dubai and take it all from there.

I'm with the other ladies on this. Bring her over if you can deal with all the paperwork. You can get an agency maid part time from around 25AED per hour. Some I know have a minimum 4 hours requirement. I'm sure if you decide to go down the agency maid route there are ladies here who can help you.

my advice is best to brin gover your maid on a visit visa. this way she can help you will all the things needed for your relocation. trust me, its mighty hard to be saddled with kids whilst arranging new house, new schools, furnishings etc. Besides, its really hard to just hire maids here. They are very unpredictable!

my friend brought her maid over from Singapore and another friend brought hers over from Kuwait, both maids were Philipino. It can be paper heavy but if you have a good maid then I would say it's worth it, finding a good maid seems hard and a matter of luck too IMHO. Good luck

Where is your maid from? If you're happy with her I would suggest bringing her, it can be quite a nightmare finding a good maid....

Well, if you are used to her and you trust her, then I would say bring her along! (especially if you trust her with your children!!) Hear to many horror stories, so why go through all that hassle. Good luck with the move!

Thanks Stargazer We are moving from Bahrain. We use our maid more of a house keeper and occasionally as a babysitter in the evenings. She is currently live in full time. Even though for cleaning house etc we probably do not need full time but like to have the flexibility to have a babysitter to go out and look after the kids when we /needwant. I hear the paperwork and the timing deadlines for paperwork to bring a maid is alot. We will be put up for 6 weeks in accomodation when we arrive so we would send our maid home in that time before we find/move into a house. I was thinking it maybe easier to just get a maid once we arrive/settled. Any thoughts? Thanks

where are you bringing your maid from? I brought my maid with, it really helped with the transition. I do however, feel a bit responsible for her ie want to ensure that she meets people fom home etc. i paid her a good salary at home, which is a good salary here too. So I pay her the same. She never lived in at home, so it is a bit of an adjustment for both of us here. But so far its working out, early days yet.
