DH was driving to AD yesterday morning, it was foggy and cars where flying past him without a care in the world. These accidents will allows happen as there are to many macho people behind the wheel. No sense at all. my hubs has to travel up to al taweelah junction and the accident happened just after apparently.

Will never understand why people are so stupid but really put it down to the 'God willing' attitude that allows this to happen, like many of the other crazy actions seen around on a daily basis.

Not sure but think that was the major pile up yesterday morning.... Be safe everyone. x yes this was the big accident that happened yesterday, very similar place to where the biggest car accident in the uae happened back in 2008. it has been proven that because of the fog only allowing you something like 50m distance, the cars needed to be driving at 78kph, which of course they were not, still driving at 120 plus! there are two places on the main abu/dubai road that suffer from fog at the section of road between samha and ghantoot and there is also a section of road that gets very slippery when it rains at the slight turn when you are coming from channel st onto the main abu dhabi/dxb road there is always a police car sitting there at that turn to mop up all the accidents when it rains, which luckily it doesnt do much.

My motto is better late than dead on time. Sadly I do not think things will ever change around here. You can educate, educate, educate but I reckon the roads here will always be super scary because of the bad drivers. Re educating people - I do believe that even if you get through to just one person and save 1 life its so worth it. But sadly I think the majority here won't be told. absolutely agree. But I was contemplating my driving today and realised I have become quite a nervous driver because of all the stupid things I see around me...well I have decided its wine o'clock, so I am going to pour a chardonnay and see if that makes me feel better... A glass of grapes is always good! Enjoy ;)

I was in the middle of 5 lanes on the flyover from Dubai to JLT / Emirates hills (correct lane for JLT) when a Black Audi A8 type car cut across from the lane on my right in front of me to get into the left hand lane. I didn't see him until he wizzed across in front of me, almost took the front of my bonnet off, if he'd misjudged my speed etc he'd have serious done some damage the speed he was going would have certainly caused my car to spin. Can't understand how these morons are allowed on the roads!

I know - I live in the lakes - lots of road works into the main gate..today I (and the truck I was following which was going slowly) was past by 5 cars on a blind corner (the other truck made it blind) -= no way they could have seen ahead b/c of the position of another construction truck on the corner.....incredible, all white women with carseats in the back...CARSEATS AREN"T GOING TO PREVENT INJURY IN A HEAD ON...they may not die......but they still will probably be badly injured..is that 2 mins really worth it..... sorry - as I had to brake hard (and i mean really hard ) last week so I wasn't involved in one of these head ons (I was on the right side of the road)..I am more than a little p!ssed by this behaviour...they didn't have baby on board signs though;)

But thats the problem right there... a heck of a lot of drivers don't have common sense when behind the wheel.

its just ridiculous isn't it.....if people drove with some sense it either wouldn't have happened, or been not as severe
