That's interesting. It seems to have covered quite a distance then from Jumeirah 1 to JBR?? do we think it has been tremors then since we still have no concrete answers???

I must be a bit dumb as I tried to do the map thingy but couldn't get it to work. We were actually sat outside in the Italian Restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Rotana, you know the one with all the fairy lights in the trees...I think it is called Rosso? The shakes were quite strong and there was a lot of noise both a rumble and glass shaking. Quite scary stuff! There were 3 definite, separate incidents all about 20 minutes apart. edited by Helen C on 24/06/2012 Yes, you would have been in Rosso which is our 'local'. Still very strange that we didn't feel anything as I can almost touch the Rotana hotel from one of our balconies. edited by amelia on 24/06/2012

Thanks Goodmorning! I am surprised that not more people felt them as they were quite strong. Over the years I have felt a few 'quakes'.....these certainly weren't as strong as others I've felt but strong enough to wonder why others didn't feel them.

I live in the Marina, overlooking Mena Seyahi Yacht Club and our windows shook the other night. The vibration was quite severe, but we also heard the noise, looked out of the windows and a large helipcopter was coming into land on the helipad at the marina, causing quite a dust storm. Have often heard and seen helicopters in the area, but this was the first time the windows have shook.

Just read this thread and so glad to hear that others felt the earthquakes too......we thought we were going mad! There was 5 of us sat outside at Rosso Restaurant at the Rotana Hotel on the Marina and we felt 3 strong shakes about 7.15 - 7.40 and 8pm.....quite scary! Strange thing was we asked the waiter but he hadn't felt anything! Glad to hear it wasnt just us then....! That is weird ! We live directly behind the Rotana, were home that evening, but didn't feel anything at all.

If you have the patience I can actually create a group of pins and posters can relocate one pin at a time to a relevant position. (One poster relocates one pin, saves the map.. next poster continues from the last map repeating the same action.) I'm game if others are... I want to see if an image appears when we connect the pins-- EW logo? Face of Elvis?

I think its more than likely a plane but heres another theory......Meteors exploding in the atmosphere are a possible cause of other unexplained booms, which are sometimes described as skyquakes.

In any case, with your location added, the 3 pins run alongside the west side of SZR. Metro red line hitting the speed of sound?

I would have pinned my own pin on the map but didn't see a way to do it-- if there is such a function it would encourage people as it would be more anonymous... edited by Tartiflette on 20/06/2012

The distance between al attar street and al manara street is quite big. And manara street is too far away from Avenues mall construction. *tapping magnifying glass*
