Hello all - a friend of mine does not wear glasses but probably needs to. She is looking for a recommendation of an optician for an eye test and also somewhere where they help you choose the best fit glasses (as opposed to telling you that everything you try on looks good like most sunglasses shops in Dubai!). Grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks

Strongly recommend sight savers in Karama - no frills optician. A very experienced opthalmologist whose check up was thorough. Was very pleased to have gone there. Not pushy with sales. Gave you options for you to decide.

And another vote. We still travel to the small branch at The Springs as the lady there is so good :)

Another ? for Al Jaber. We've used them, both at MoE and MCC, for years and still use the MCC branch even though we now live in Muscat.

Another vote for Al Jabeer, we just went to their Dubai mall outlet, and had a great experience. They now run have great promotions or, alternatively do -25% for Metlife card holders, maybe other insurers too. I myself went to Magrabi Dubai Mall one year ago, I did find glasses but paid really over the head, was offered no discount at all for 2 expensive pairs of spectacles and had quite mediocre service overall from their manager. I also had issues with Esiilor brand coating at Magrabi.

We're all spectacle wearers in my house and have had good to excellent experiences with Al Jaber in Town Centre. Several of the staff have been there for many years and I've always found them very helpful. The optometrist isn't always there so call before you visit to make sure you can get the eye test done and not have a wasted journey.
