Even if it's not "technically" dog-friendly, but you know people have dogs there with no problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen dogs in the Marina so there must be somewhere that allows them!

Fingers crossed...

Thanks for your help!

Loads of people in the Marina have dogs - it depends not just on the building but also on the landlord. I keep hearing that people are moving to the Greens from JBR because the Greens is pet friendly and JBR is now outlawing it...dunno if it's true, but I see dogs all over JBR and the Greens! And BTW it's not cruel to have dogs living in a flat. They're not being 'kept' there, it's the place they reside when they've finished being taken out for walks and playtime outdoors. They're not horses you know! They spend most of their time lounging around and sleeping anyway!

Pets are not allowed at JBR BY LAW of Dubai Municipality - see previous threads. ps I think goldfish are OK Do you mean that by law the dogs are not allowed on the actual beach (which I know they aren't)...or in JBR the area? Is it really against the MUNICIPAL LAW to have dogs in the area? Sorry I was not clear I meant in the towers as in Jumeirah Beach Residence. The notices are INSIDE of each tower at the ground floor and at Plaza level. Don't know for certain about the beach itself but I think I have seen Municipality notices on other beaches. Just to add ... like a lot of the "laws" in Dubai it seems no action is taken UNTIL some-one complains.

Thanks Babs and Alya for responding I have been sitting on my hands as I was going to have a rant to JWAL's question. Additional to the fact my dog goes to day care 3 days a week and comes to my office the other days he never goes into a garden unless someone is with him. My dog needs company and gets bored after 5 mins of being in a garden even if you are playing with him I have a feeling he is just too lazy:-)

Is it not cruel to keep dogs in apartments? Do they not need access to gardens? Do you just let them run about on the balcony? It's actually annoying and offensive to be asked this question over and over. First of all, I rescued my dog from the side of the road in Dubai, where a friend saw an Arab man throw her out of the back of a truck. She was skin and bones and we took care of her and nursed her back to health. She's a "desert dog" and not very big. Also, I live in a big enough apartment for her to run around and chase the cat. She gets walked 5-6 times every day, including 2 30-minute walks which me and my husband pay for while we're at work. She goes on camping trips with us and running with us when it's cool enough. She gets fed well and proper veterinary care when she needs it. She has many toys and sleeps in our bed with us. So no, it is in no way cruel to keep her in an apartment. Not to mention the fact that the alternative would have been for her to be on the streets, starving. I wish people who didn't have experience with this kind of thing wouldn't judge others for being "cruel".

Not ideal, but definitely not cruel as long as you walk them a couple of times a day. I got my dogs when I was living in an apartment (rescue dogs from the municipality) and they were doing well. I moved to a place with a small garden when my contract was up, but when I think about it, it was not necessary at all. They never go out if I am at home. All they want is to be able to see me at all times:) Babs85, I was living in Downtown, Burj Views, one of the Emaar buildings, there were lots of people with dogs in the neighborhood. I would check with Emaar (800-emaar) and ask which buildings they have in Marina allow dogs.

Marti and Babs85 - I have a friend who lives in Marinascape with her dog and apparently several ownrs/tenants have complained to the management committee about there being too many dogs in the building, so they are looking at banning any new ones. Best you check with the management committee themselves as all the security men are brand new and have only been there about two weeks.

Hi when I asked security in Bayside and Marinascape they both said yes. Not 100% about Trident Grand though probably worth swinging by and asking them. Don't always believe agents as they just want the sale:-)

Babs all of the Emaar Buildings e.g. Marina Prominade, Quays and Park Island allow pets as do the Trident Buildings ( as long as not huge dogs). I am in JBR at the moment with my dog but am moving out as it appears to be kicking off again since Dubai Asset Management have taken over the service ( Even though they are Salwan is disguise). Good luck :-)

I just really wish Dubai would make it easier on good dog owners, who happened to rescue an abused desert dog puppy from the side of the road. How is it better for strays to be running around than for me to get her spayed and make sure she's healthy, picked up after, adn on a lead? So frustrating.

My parents have been in JBR for 4 years and have had a small dog the whole time. They had him 10 years before moving in and when they purchased the apartment prior to completion there was nothing about pets until they moved in. They have been told a few times they aren't allowed dogs so they just answer its not a dog its a goldfish, or some other stupid answer that tends to confuse people enough so they keep quiet and not bother them again. As long as you pick up after your dog and don't walk them on the PL level you tend to be fine. Pets are part of the family they can't make yo get rid of them

Thanks Emma! I'm hoping that most apartment buildings will "not notice" since it's hard for most places to get residents anymore. :)

Babs, seriously... there are signs up all round JBR saying no pets allowed but i only stayed there a month and saw at least a dozen dogs (including a husky!), 2 cats looking out the window of a low level apartment (also Shams 4), when we were having dinner on "the walk", on 2 seperate occasions i saw men taking thier pet [i'>[b'>monkeys[/b'>[/i'> out for a walk.... and the "pug lady" with her 4 dogs. I would point out that all the buildings have a security guard that sits on the front door... the one in our building let these wee dogs in and out daily. p.s - the signs say no skateboarding/rollerblades too but all the kids are out wheeling about...

I know pets aren't allowed at JBR by law, but I'd be willing to accept a place that would even "turn the other way" when they see dogs coming. I just have one small dog and my company wants to move to the Marina or Barsha or JBR and I'm nervous about it.

Babs, I was staying at Shams 4 in JBR... there were a few dogs round there and one lady who lived in that building with 4 little pugs. I saw her letting them out on the grass out the front and one came running into the lift with her and up to thier apartment.
