Hello, I know its good to read on advice from websites but it is also good to get a personal opinion and advice from someone who is from Dubai about living conditions....
I just want to know if there is much work in Dubai these days for westerners?
and whether there are jobs that will provide accommodation.. and the cost of living in comparison to living in expensive Melbourne.. ..and also what kind of jobs are safe to get into with a good price onto it being worthy of making the travel etc.......
any information would be great help and knowledge :)

re web cam interviews my husband was offered his job after a tele conference. He didn't visit Dubai till the day he started work. thats awesome for what job did he receive and do use live there now? Prefer not to give details about his job-sorry-but yes we have been happily in Dubai 7+ years now though I spend half the year in Australlia as the 'big' kids are there still. "Home' in Melbourne at the minute. All good im glad to hear that I hope in the time to come Id locate to reside in Dubai as a 'good escape' from Melbourne itself

It sounds pretty competitive in terms of work wise .. I'd of course live in Dubai when Im married I understand those terms and all .. I guess I would have to get the qualification and experience in order to get a good secure job there.. How would you even get a job whilst living in a different country? Do you contact them and then they would ask you to fly their for an interview or something?? My DD found a job when she arrived, it took time thou. My hubby found his job through an Employment Agency, but it took lots of effort and very time consuming, and alot of time wasters thrown in for good measure. Is there something like webcam interviews lol or anything that you can do in communication that will assure you the job when you fly over their?

Also bear in mind that if you are planning to send money back to Australia the exchange rate is terrible at the minute.

I thought it would be more of a challenge to get a job in Dubai judging from the formal interviews and experience you would need in order to even try for getting a position from what i read .. Iv had experience but not quite qualifications which isn't much of a plus on that behalf but me and my partner (not married yet) are both undertaking a Cert IV in Occupational Health & Safety.. Its online so it wont take longer than a year to complete.. I am only 21 years old.. I fluently speak English as well as Greek.. Romanian as well by nationality but no idea about the langauge and only know basic arabic because of my religion which wont help .. I like the idea of working in another country and I know that Dubai as well as being a very religious country is a very welcoming country to westerners.. there is no rush in coming to dubai but it is a thought i would strongly consider within the next 2-3 years .. Did u move to Dubai from Australia? Dubai can be ageist aswell, young candidates aged 21 are usually in competition with locally experienced residents who are older and have more work experience plus UAE experience It can be luck of the draw however most single females receive a total montly salary which is basic/accomodation/transport although i will be honest and advise it will not be a huge amount ( based on age and experience) It is a great place to live and work but bear it mind it is illegal to live with a partner ( You are supposed to be married) it is expensive although i believe cheaper than Australia
