Any one knows a bout a good restaurant (McDo excluded) with a little play area incorporated to keep my little one entertained?

At Lime Tree (Jumeirah) they have a little toy kitchen area near the stairs which my kids love. You can't see it from the tables but there is plenty of staff so I think it's quite well supervised.

The bagel place in the Marina (across from Marina Hotel Apartments) has a small play area that my nearly 3 year old LOVED! Definitely toys geared towards younger kids (under 3 is probably best), but he didn't want to leave. Good place for breakfast/lunch.

You could try the new restuarant, The Archive, in Safa park. It has an outdoor terrace so you can sit and watch the children play nearby in the park. It is a library and an art gallery as well, has free wifi and I hear the food is really good.

The Change Initiative on the SZR has a small free of charge play area with lovely eco friendly toys and they serve a delish carrot cake and raw organic coffee too! Light bright and quiet environment.

any other places? I have been to the brunch at the ibn battuta gate and it was brilliant. The entertainement, play areas were fantastic as well as the service and the quality of food.

We must have been pretty unlucky, we had an awful meal at Spur. Food wasn't great and the service awful :(

I have to second fat burger, awful name, but great for kids and the burgers were very good! On Jumeirah beach road near beach park but more towards Abu Dhabi on the city side, as opposed to beach side...

Lovely ideas, I'm glad you asked OP! Btw we really love Spur at Festival City, good steaks and great service (they're South Africans of course ;))

The Montgomery golf Academy restaurant, lovely terrace with a nice skyline view, nice food and a little playground for the kids right beside the terrace.

Spurs in Festival City has a play area - small ball pit and slide etc. IT serves burgers, fajita type food and the staff are really friendly

There is a small area in the Organic Cafe in Dubai Mall. I like it as it close enough to the dining area that you can still keep an eye on your little one.

I was at the Cheesecake Factory recently with DS and I found it totally not kid friendly. Will not go back again, although we had a great South African waiter who understood our order, so that was quite refreshing :) edited by twin_butterfly on 18/12/2012

We were at the Irish Village for lunch recently and they have a big bouncy castle next to the entrance where there were lots of kids playing. FFx

The Lakes Club has an outdoor play area next to the restaurant. There definitely aren't enough of these in Dubai (if you don't count actual kids play places, where the food is usually not great and the noise usually overwhelming!)

What about "The Cheesecake Factory", is it children friendly?

Oh, we discovered Fatburger the other day. It is amazing! I know it's still a burger joint, but the burgers are AMAZING and the play area kept the kids entertained for hours. It's on Beach Rd at Jumeriah. Highly recommend :)
