Satisfying a sweet tooth after dinner

I've been on my version of a detox since New Years day and by that I mean no alcohol for 21 days, more exercise and generally eating healthier. I've got to admit though that I'm finding it really difficult in the evening after dinner not to raid the chocolate/crisps/cake cupboard that I have in for my DS. I find yoghurts and fruit are just not hitting the spot and my cravings for sweet deserts are getting worse. Any suggestions/ ideas of deserts that are low in calories, low fat content and just generally yummy.

I found information about a fat free brownie mix via a blog about slimming world. I am currently following the slimming world eating plan. I was sure it would not be available here, but lo and behold it is. I found it in Spinneys and it is kept at the same place where the Betty Crocker cake mixtures are kept. It is called Catwalk Cow. Instead of making the brownie mix with oil and eggs you just mix in fat free yogurt and bake for 20 - 30mins. Super easy and they are lovely and squidgy. One brownie + 2 tsp of light cream equals 6 syns on slimming world so well in range to have a daily treat if you want. It is really rich so just a small square does satisfy your chocolate craving. Just remember it does contain sugar but it is still a low calorie snack. That sounds excellent - can I get the book here as I can thave any fat at all :(

One thing I like is to do is drizzle a tablespoon of Hershey Chocolate syrup on a small-to meduim, nicely sliced banana. It is less than 150 calories and is super satisfying--the banana is filling and the chocolate drizzle makes it feel naughty--sweet tooth? Satisfied! wow :D :D

Was watching 'The View' last night and one of the segments was on making foods that we like but with lower calorie content. The presenter suggested making any of the cake mixes eg Betty Crocker by using diet cola instead of the eggs and oil. Brings down the calorie content per slice to 170 calories so half a slice would probably satisfy the sweet craving. Personally think that it would taste best with the chocolate cake.

Weight watchers make nice 3 point desserts, a chocolate brownie one, mandarin and a strawberry cheesecake. You can also get single serving carrot cakes and chocolate logs. I follow south beach diet and they suggest jello lite and ff cool whip and that is also good. My mother does a digestive biscuit with sugar free jam and cool whip on top of that.

The Breyers low fat ice cream I picked up by mistake during my last Choithrams outing is incredibly good. It says "Smooth and Dreamy" on the carton! Also, the Vivani organic milk chocolate ("edel vollmilch") at Organics is very satisfying in small quantities, as is Galaxy Smooth Dark. I snack a lot once the kids are asleep :)

I also get cravings for sweets/choc after dinner - just had 4 small chocs. I find when I have a really tasty dinner I'm more likely to want chocs/sweets after. If I eat bland food my appetite for sweets also goes down but I don't want the kids to see me skipping dinner and pick up bad eating habits. A friend tried the dates after dinner as recommended by a dietician and managed to lose a lot of weight. She got the dark chewy ones and found they were like toffee. I've tried but they dont do much for me.

I love frozen grapes, Just stick fresh ones in the freezer in a tupperware and grab a handful every now and again. Afraid the only weight watching i do is the scales slowly climbing :( Started Zumba this week and starting to wonder if there is such a thing as "Death by Zumba"?

Flavoured ice blocks usually come in at under 50 calories and are fat free, Most jelly is fat free and about 25 calories per serve (but the brands I have found here have not been very tasty), 1 tsp of milo in a cup of skim milk is about 100 calories and can help with a sweet craving, A tall glass of sugar free lemonade with fresh mint leaves is tasty; or instead of fruit and yoghurt try a small apple with 20gr of reduced fat cheese (sliced thinly with a vegetable peeler). It comes in at about 100 calories too.

Try sucking on one square of Lindt 70% dark chocolate, if you can do just one. It's very satisfying for that after dinner sweet tooth.

What about non-fat things .... like marshmallows, or jelly sweets (not too many!) or sugar free jelly?
