Last week I finally managed to pack up my chainsaw-cutting-down-forests-is-quieter DH to Muscat. The cat is now lying next to me on the couch snoring right by my ear...! What is it with the males in my life?!?!

When I was back in SA, I actually got some sleeping pills for those times when there is no spare bedroom for me to escape to! Most of the time I manage to either get to sleep before DH, or I wake him up and make him stay awake until I can get to sleep, or else I wander into another room, but there are times when you cannot find somewhere else (hotel / staying at someone elses house etc) to go, and Im NOT a nice person when I dont get sleep! We even have 2 tent in case! Mine is one of those spring up ones, so if he is snoring, I just move tents! Grab the corner of the pop up one and keep dragging it along until I cannot hear him any more! Its the plan that when we move to Muscat, we are both going to lose weight, so hopefully that will help as well...

after 3 years of sleepless nights, baby was born and than even less sleep than 1 minute on 24 hours with crying baby on one side and snoring husband on the other I decided it is time for a change. I refuse to sleep in the same bed. We went on a weekend to Fujeirah for Christmas and was the worse weekend of my life sleep-wise because husband AND baby were in the same room hence no sleep for 3 days, not 1 minute. Still recovering from that. I used to be a cuddling romantic but my husband leaves me no choice....separate bedrooms it is!!!

I'm a very loud snorer, I wake up myself from snoring sometimes. I feel sorry for my DH because he doesn't get that much sleep from my snoring and tries to wake me up when i do. I tried 'Silence' spray but it didn't work for me, also I don't think my weight would be the reason because it's always been the same, it's only when I got married i started snoring. I never use to snore. Anyway I'll definitely go to the doctor and get it checked out

I got my snoring husband a spray called 'Silence' that I bought at the Ranches pharmacy and was gobsmacked when it actually worked. Not cheap but well worth it for a quiet night!

I used to snore really loudly. My sister reordered the sound once and it was terrible. Tried different methods for a while and nothing seemed to work. Until I started my diet and the first pound that I dropped the snoring stopped and it never came back. Doctors say that most of the time it has a connection with our weight. And also with what we eat at night...

DH is also champion snorer (sp?!) and some of the extra noises are v unusual. I too have videoed him to make my 'case', however shocking as it is to my family I sleep through all the commotion most of the time as so knackered but there have been times when a good kick gives me just enough of a window to fall asleep. The snoring literally starts as his head touches the pillow and eyes are shut and annoyingly he can fall asleep in 1 minute whilst it can take me 15-20 mins.. therefore best to get to bed before him!!! Can't believe so many of us with snoring Dh's!

Just use the pillow....no point in half measures. Believe me I've tried everything!!! He just inhales the clothes pegs and swallows the pillows :D I know, I'll finish off his Malt then I'll get some serious snoring in!!! Different rooms? Oh yeh, have done that too. Not as important here as am not working but will be returning to work when we go home and will really need my sleep !

My husband snores so loudly that even his fake snores (when he demonstrates his snoring capacity to the kids) don't compare. It's not that it just keeps me awake - it is so loud that it wakes me from the deepest sleep. My sister-in-law said that in SA they have a face mask attached to an oxygen tank (sounds severe!) for the snorer and that the snoring is completely eliminated. Not sure I can ask hubby to go to this extreme mind you! I know how you feel though. I have to say that I am exhaused and long for a decent nights sleep.

We've not slept in the same bed for 7 years, I can't stand the snoring!! Funnily enough we have a very happy marriage, so maybe they had it right in the 50's! :)

Small World. Met DH in Huntly 27 years ago. My parents and brother stay in Ellon now. Did you go to school at all in Huntly? No, nor in Ellon. Went to school in Aberdeen for a few years, the rest in England and abroad. But we used to go and stay in Huntly when my father went fishing on the Deveron and Bogie - lovely place.

Foggie even! I was born in Ellon but family originally from around Huntly, grew up all over but went back to Uni in Aberdeen and lived there off and on for years in between overseas stints, lastly Doha and Dubai, now halfway up a mountain in Cyprus mostly, apart from the odd trip to AD to see DH.

Complicated! Born just outside Dalkeith, moved to West Calder from 10 to 18. Edinburgh while I did teacher training at Moray House and then moved to Huntly and finally Aberchirder while teaching at Macduff! Al Ain for a couple of years and here for the last month!!!!!!!!!! What about you?
