So sorry to hear that. I have gone through similar thing. I would recommend Carol Alderson at Alderson Associates. She specialises in all things divorce and matrimonial and is really easy to talk to. I hope and wish all the best for you.
Hi.
Last week my husband phoned me up and told me he has packed a bag, cancelled mine and the childrens visas and is divorcing me!
To say it came to a huge shock is an understatment! He has been acting like a husband right up until the morning I left the house to take my son to school! 4 hours later I get this phone call.
Without me giving you the whole story...
My question is....
We have had to drawn up an agreement between ourselves, for our financials, this document has to go in front of the judge to rubber stamp it. He has told me this is to protect me... This letter of agreement, just list our financials and how much he is going to pay me, and his terms of what I can and can't do! I will be leaving Dubai next week. He tells me, that when I'm back in the UK and if he defaults on a payment I can call the courts here and have him arrested for not sticking to this agreement will be placed in prison until he pays what he owes???? However, he has also said the judge might not agree to this even though we have agreed between ourselves, if that is the case, it will still be an agreement between us! So why do I need to go the courts, because I can't see he is that caring to protect me, considering what he is doing, he already has 3 children in the UK that he doesn't pay for! The agreement has been a long battle, as each time if I don't back down, he says well I let the judge decide and you will get less, as they favor the men! He is also worried that I will not attend the court in Abu Dhabi because at first he wouldn't give me our passports back, he was going to hold them until Thursday! But I now do have them.
It doesn't add up to me, why I am going to court when it can stand between ourselves, and why is he worried if I leave beforehand...
I have tried speaking with the Embassy here, with no luck.
My other option is to wait and speak with a UK Solicitor tomorrow, but I am also worried that they might know the full laws here.
I must stress that I do not have money to throw around with lawyers, as I will be going back to the UK, with no house, no job, no car, and not enough to even buy a house, with my two lovely children to bring up...
Urgent help, please.....
thanks Nippy
