Not sure what we want yet. What is the going rate for a live in and live out?

TIA

We pay 2500 for live-out. 5 days 08.00-16.00 ****** ****...... How is any supposed to survive on that living out? I cannot believe anyone would pay this and think it's ok. Shocking, just shocking I really don't think it is up to you to judge. Our maid is very happy, her previous employer had her work 6 days of 10-12 hours, living out (excl. a commute of 3 hours a day) and paying far less then 2500. She works less then her contract says, usually only 3 days a week. She manages to save about 30% of her earnings. She eats at our house or takes food home, gets loads of stuff she sells, extras etc. and before anyone else starts, no, she is not having other jobs on the side. Agreed, this is the rate our live out maid , QUOTED to US in order for her to live comfortably and support her family back home. She is more than happy with this salary. She eats at our home 3 meals a day and gets food to take home. Whenever I do groceries, I take her along with me and ask her to pick out whatever she likes from food to toiletries. She gets brand new clothes from me as well - as well as cash bonus' here and there. She's a really great maid and on special occasions, holidays I treat her to mani-pedi's, facials, haircuts and massages anything to show her how much we appreciate her. She also said- she's less tired and overworked since she started working for my family and actually finds time to herself to relax and even go jogging! She gets her week ends off, to visit her sisters who also work in Dubai and she's extremely happy with her new accommodations as she told us about how 8 women were crammed in a single room in bunk beds in the accommodations her agency provided. I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything- but if my maid was unhappy with anything or felt that she wasn't being paid enough- she would definitely make it known but her situation with us is far far better than the conditions she was subjected to work under at her old company.

Moving soon to Dubai and studying the option of a live out efficient good maid for three days a week, any idea how much I should pay her or where I can find such a gem ? With many thanks to all the forum members. It is such a big help to me as I'm trying to collect the pieces of the puzzle all together to get a close picture of our future life in Dubai :) The only legal way to have a maid is either to sponsor one (live in or live out) or to get a maid from a registered maid agency Sharing maids/maids who claim to have their own visas etc are illegal and you risk prosecution and a 50,000aed fine Yes I am aware of that , so all the agencies have the same rate ?

Judging by most threads on here 2500-3000 seems to be the going rate for a live out maid

We live in Ajman where the rate is far cheaper. Our live in maid gets AED1600 plus food allowance (rice, meat is from our stock, toiletries, mobile phone allowance, flight home every year, four weeks' paid holiday plus bonus and clothes). Grumpy, maids working for agencies or live out maids get much much less in some cases so as Oopsiedaisy suggested, it is not up to you to judge in such tones as your post suggested. most of theMaids I know of that live out get 2500 or slightly more and they are managing to build houses in the phillapines on that salary !
