H e l l no! If we weren't saving any money then we would move back home. I do think it also depends on where 'home' is though. In our case home is Australia, so we are certainly not in Dubai for the blue skies and beautiful weather. ;)

erm blue skies, beautiful weather, amazing people, diverse cultures, so much to see and do (still discovering things after almost 3 years) , friendly and welcoming place...i would stay even if i was saving zero! Wow, do you live in Perth, are there jobs there it sounds amazing? The confusion was my fault. I am from Perth and kelly1814 description of Dubai could also describe my hometown. ha ha! I missed the first comment! From the description I would never of guessed Dubai....amazing people....so much to see and do??? Really???!!!! Different strokes for different folks I guess!

Yes, well that's the case now too, we aren't saving much money. DH is Emirati and he never wants to move from Dubai although he hates Dubai nowadays. :( He doesn't want to leave his family and he has his work here, well he hates it but we are living on his salary anyway. Just to add little more that we have no children yet but if we get any, we may move when the children go to school. The school fees in Dubai are ridiculous (and most likely they will be too much for us) and I have bad opinion of public schools (based on DH's experiences). So it's possible we will move if we get children someday.

Yeah, but it's all relative at the end of the day if at the end of the month for example you were left with exactly the same amount in the bank in either country where would it be better to be? Does that make sense??!! It does make sense jwal. If that was the exact situation then, despite loving the UAE itself, I would move back home in a heartbeat.

nope. will definitely pack the whole family up and transfer to any other significantly better expat job and location available. since I know going back to my country will not be a good option either.

hmm 20% vat, up to 40% tax, national insurance, council tax, horrendous utility bills and awful weather to boot -i personally wouldnt return to uk, nope not me. i would rather live in the warm and the safety . <em>edited by fairwater on 05/01/2011</em>

Just interested if anyone would stay here is they weren't saving money each month? We are finding each month we have less and less to save as unforseen expenses keep cropping up as they do!
