DD2 is 8 weeks on wed. Out of approx 6 - 8 feeds per day she has 0 - 2 bottles of formula and the rest she is breast fed. She has not done a poo in about 3 days. She isnt in pain and her tummy isnt hard but i am starting to get a bit worried. She has ALOT of wet nappies though. Is this the same for other ladies? When should i get worried? Is there anything i can do to help? Is it from the formula? Even though 90% of her feeds are breast milk?

plumie, no apparently according to Dr she wasnt constipates just a build up of gasses she was having trouble passing. However still no poops on her own. two supp. given and two poops, two others given and no poops so have to see what tomorrow will bring......

Will's record was nine days with no poo. But when he did eventually poo, boy, did he poo. Thankfully his dad arrived in the UK that morning. I'd say the same. My breastfed DD was 4 months old and went 10 days without pooping. When she finally did poop, it was like explosion after explosion and it lasted for a few days. It was also the runny type that'd go up her back so carry a few spare outfits with you in the next few days and lots of diapers if you go out!:)

Hiya, ok so called ped last week as DD was in so much pain and straining. he said she is just got a build up of gasses, prescribed suppositories for 3 days. Some says she pooed others she didnt. I have still a bit of an unsettled baby. Will call ped again today as she hasnt pooped again since thurs and that was from the suppository. Very unsettled yesterday crying and straining. I actualy think this could be linked to the diflucan i have been taking. So hard to know. Argghh i am pulling my hair out. Glad your bub is all sorted Plumie. :) Was she constipated Leshell? Was her tummy hard? I contemplated giving DD the suppositories as well, but as her tummy was soft and she was not straining much, I decided to wait it out as it was still in the "normal" range for not pooping! For your and her sake, I hope relief comes soon!

Hiya Plumie and leshell! Mine poos every four days like clock work! And when he poos I keep buckets of water ready :D Every 4 days?!?! Madame used to "go" everyday, sometimes even twice :) Then, all of sudden a dry spell! Am hoping it returns back to "normal" now ;)

Hey Leshell, Thought i would update this thread: Day 6 and I finally got a poopy diaper this morning :) Luckily I was with her when the "drama" unfolded and could clean it up immediately! There was lotssssss - a whole weeks lot of poo :D Any luck on your side yet?

My cousin gave me once this brilliant tip. What they will do at the doctor is stimulating the anus. I did it myself at 6 weeks, just a little bit-I did it with a cotton bud- my hand was immediately covered in pooh.They have to learn that as well, so better relief them and don't let them struggle with it.

I know you are feeling better, but I just thought I would add, DS only pooped every 4-5 days when he was young - in fact until he was about 6 months old, and started solids ... then boy, did things change :) As long as there is no discomfort, and it is there 'normal' movement, you should be fine - Breastmilk is the 'perfect' food, so very little waste created if they are efficient absorbers of nutrients!

Give your baby a couple of teaspoons of weak camomile tea to relax him/her. It always worked for mine and they tended to sleep better.

Sounds like she going through another growth spurt and it's common for babies not to poo for a few days - up to a week even during then. It seems their digestive systems during this time become super efficient and absorb every last nutrient out of their milk and as such pooing slows down. As you say she seems to be fine i.e. tummy not hard, lots of wet nappies, I wouldn't worry too much. Just be prepared for a massive explosion any day now!

LOL - Leshell!!! We seem to be going through exactly the same thing, at exactly the same time :) Same here! Tomorrow will be Day 3 for no poopy diaper! And yes - a lot of wet nappies too! All very normal for breast fed babies to go without a poopy diaper for 5-6 days! I checked with her Pediatrician on Sat and also with Cecile De Scally today. As long as the tummy is soft, then all is okay! However, if you feel an "olive like" lump in her tummy, then it means there is a blockage and possibly constipated?!?! We should [i'>definitely[/i'> meet up :D
