Hello all,
DD is 8 months old, and we have been looking for something to do with our afternoons. Playgroups, something more structured, anything. Any ideas? Everything I come across meets in the morning, and if I take her out between nap #1 and #2, it's not pretty. Something in the 3:00 PM range. All ideas welcome! TIA!

Cleopatra , klee suggested mini monsters next Tuesday, would u and dubaicat like to join us? Cleopatra, I didn't catch your email and nows it seems you deleted it! :( Oh, I would love to join, but will only know on the Tuesday if I can make it or not. I am penciled in for a little surgery and not sure how quickly I'm going to be back on my feet. What time is everyone meeting? com edited by Cleopatra on 09/02/2011

I have visitors tomorrow so we can't make it but I'm definitely up for going next week. They do nursery rhymes every day at 11 and the one in Ibn Battuta has a ball pit too, so I'd like to try that one. We're going to Mini Monsters on Saturday for the Fairy Godmother meeting so I'll have a better look at the facilities there too.

Thanks DubaiCat! That's a much more reasonable price. If anyone would like to join, I think I'll head over there tomorrow around 3pm.

I went to Peekaboo at MOE this morning. They have a little cordoned-off area for under-2s which has padded floors and walls - great for my LO as he is somewhat adventurous! It was 20dhs for an hour. They didn't have a great deal of good toys, but they did do a little nursery rhyme session which he loved. So it was worth it.

Cleopatra, I really feel for my son and want some friends for him. He gets so excited in malls when he see''s other children. I feel if I don't do something I will be depriving him, also I am not working so I should make a better effort. But I really find it difficult to meet people here with children of similar age group. Look like this is the best place for that! :) It's a bit like me, so hopefully with EW we can change this. Where is your location?

Unfortunately Lamzy is a bit too far for me. The Marina would be better, but you are right it seems extremely pricey. Has anyone ever tried the soft play area on Sheikh Zayed Road. I think it's called Little Monsters or something.

A friend said it wasn't worth the money but I haven't been so I'm not sure. There is a place on the Palm that's way less - I'll see if I can find out some more about it. But Lamcy sounds brilliant. ETA: And I'm going to Peekaboo at MOE tomorrow morning so I'll report back :). edited by DubaiCat on 07/02/2011

I looked up their website, and Favourite Things seems awesome. However, at 85 AED/hour, it's waaaay out of our budget.

Ladies, not sure where you are all based but there is a place called favourite things mother and child entertainment centre in Marina Mall. I popped in there the other day as my 6 month old i think will soon be crawling and have been looking for somewhere to take him. They take babies from 6 months, although they have to be accompanied at that age obviously. There is also a cafe for parents. It looked great and there is so much to do in there. xx

I have no clue. I took DS to the Fairy Godmother meeting and he had his first go in the ball pit - he loved it and I hadn't taken him anywhere like that before because I thought he was too small! I felt awful. We need somewhere that has soft mats and lots of baby toys. Or klee's living room if she doesn't mind the chaos! :D

First time mum, don't really which place is suitable or what sort of activities are out there. Any ideas?

We need to do more in the afternoons too. We've been hibernating recently while we've been trying to establish good sleep routines and now we're doing well with those, I think DS needs something more exciting than me and his toybox!

My 11 months old son is totally bored at home. I also prefer to do something in the afternoon. Let me know if you have ideas?

I know how you feel. I would love to have some entertainment for that age group at around 3:30 pm, but it's all seems to be in the morning. Please someone come up with somehting.
