I am actually pumping but just wondering are there any effects when you stop? How much do your boobs shrink, do you loose any other weight?, does your body in general get effected by the change in hormones? TIA

Hmmm... cabbage leaves stuffed down my bra? Gawd, I'm really going to be rocking the attractive look this weekend. Thanks for the tip :). make sure the leaves are peeping out the top of your bra and wear green shoes to match.. you'll look divine! ggrr - spelling edited by pentel on 31/01/2011

If you're just feeding every other day already, then I'd imagine that your body would hardly notice if you stopped! Good! I hate that bursting feeling. I might just try some sage in my tea just to make sure...

No I haven't tried it - I'm just getting started on feeding! MIL told me to avoid the herb because of this reason and said that she and her 4 daughters have all used it when required, I've looked it up and it apparently contains a source of oestrogen which is the reason it halts milk production. It would be interesting if someone tries it and reports back. I think you can used the dried herb as well as the leaves.

That's really interesting Pentel, have you tried it, the sage tea? Does it work?

How long will it take before my body stops making milk or will I need to go through a few days of feeling sore and like I'm going to explode? And if I do need to do this, is it better to express a tiny bit or just leave them? MIL tells me that you need to drink tea made with sage to stop making milk, just throw some leaves into regular tea for a week and your milk dries up apparently.

You lost the last 4kgs? OK, that's it, the boobie bar is officially closed! :D I'm down to a feed every other day or thereabouts, and only a tiny feed. I lost the last 4kgs (bringing me back to my pre pregnancy weight) within 2 weeks of stopping BF my first. Defininte perk. Not so cool was that 2kgs of that was probably just off my boobs! Felt kind of sad for a little while afterwards, as it's quite a milestone in your relationship with your LO. Though I'm sure most DHs are glad to get 'their' playthings back again!

yeah, mine were "deflated" initially then sort of stabilized. I was pregnant with DS2 by then (first trimester) so I can't comment on the weight loss or affect on moods/emotions.

at least for some of us you can refer to the song 'do your ears hang low' but just put in the word b00bs Wahahahaha.... I can so join the choir on this one. Sadly, my ladies have headed South since having fed my DS's. I thank la senza bras now Hehe! so true! Saying that, you've gotta thank the whole process for introducing us to decent bras, eh?! I'm still a size bigger than pre-preg (E cup now) and again, that's great - look, no surgery!

I found that my boobs reduced gradually, although for about a week after stopping feeding my first (I'd gone up to a G cup), I did have a sneak preview of my chest at 70! lol NOT a pretty sight! Still, they recovered but never went down to my pre-pregnancy size, which I am most happy about! Second time around, they weren't quite so Jordan-esque so it didn't really make much difference. I didn't have any noticeable weight loss after stopping feeding, but my periods came back literally 2 weeks after stopping. If you stop all of a sudden, you may feel engorged for a couple of days, but it'll then pass.
