So history is repeating itself. I'm just over 36 weeks and in hospital being monitored as my BP is too high and it occurred to DH and I, as we were driving here, that we only have one boy's name and we're not sure about it. So we need suggestions in a hurry! We like good, strong, traditional names. He's Scottish and my family are all Scottish but I was born in England and grew up in Norway so any links to those countries would be nice.

My DH is Douglas and my DS is Stewart with Andrew as middle name (Stuart is the French spelling but also popular) Calum, Fraser. No good for a girl though. Congrats on your wee daughter xx :)

DC, good to see everything has stabilised. I had the same thing: was admitted on my 32nd week with early contractions and after an overnight observation was told to go home and be a good girl Although I had to go back on my 35th week for the real thing ... Hang in there ... only a few more weeks to go! If you would like me to scan the few pages of the book with the Scottish boy names and send them across to you, happy to do so. Sometimes having a list where you can cross options off helps - I am a 'lists person' so that is how I operate; if I had to rely on my memory ... I'd probably be living in a tent in the middle of the desert

Oh DubaiCat, these are rather extreme lengths to go to in order to ensure you will be able to come to the breastfeeding seminar on the 12th! Joking apart, you have my prayers for a safe and unhurried arrival of your new little one. I'm afraid I can't help with boys' names - I had lots of girls' names lined up, and when we learned that DS was a boy, I took to watching television credits for inspiration (yes, I'm afraid my son was named after the second assistant director on Home and Away...) Oh...one boys' name which was on my very very short list but which DH vetoed was Iain (with the Scottish spelling).

I've just had a little boy and we called him Lachlan a nice Scottish name.....or Callum was our second choice. Good luck :) I love that name! And when DH says it, it sounds perfect but when I say it, it sounds like I'm butchering it :(. Haha same here u need the Scottish accent ....my dh says it perfect but with my London accent not as good I always call him by his middle name lol his gonna be confused little one not knowing his name:) not met many lachlans either :)

Was in the middle of typing my message when you did yours. Just checked Lachlan which I missed but I also love it. It says: Derived from the Gaelic 'laochail' (war-like), which is from the root 'laoch' (war, strife). Alternatively, it may be from the Irish Lochlainn (Lakeland, Fiordland), a name that originated from the name the Irish used for the native home of the Norse invaders. Variations: Lachann, Lachlann. Do you have any news for us DC? Scottish names seem to be the trend at the moment so I have pulled out the baby names book we bought before DS was born. There are the most beautiful Scottish boy names but spelling could be a bit of a headache for the LO. Here are a few that I like: Alasdair (defender of mankind), Benneit (blessed), Calum (dove), Darach (dark oak), Eachann (brown horse), Eoghan/Evan/Ewan (youth), Glenn (valley), Iagan (little fire), Iomhair/Imhear/Iomhar (archer) – this name is the Scottish variation of the Scandinavian Ivar, Kester (Scottish variation of Christopher), Kieran (little dark one), Magnus (great), Neacal (Gaelic form of Nicholas), Ranulf (shield wolf), Ruiseart (Gaelic form of Richard), Tearlach (Gaelic form of Charles), Uilleam (Gaelic form of William).

I love Rory but I have an ex by that name who DH would never tire of punching so that's out the window! I'm quite superstitious about names before they arrive :\: so the one 'maybe' is a secret but I am utterly stumped for others. We had two on our list when DS was born, and the other name was Aiden, but someone else close to DH used that in the summer so he doesn't want that now. I love Oliver but he doesn't, I like Ryan but he doesn't... aaaaargh! I do like George too, and Ethan and Euan, but he isn't keen on any of them. It better be a girl or there could be ructions! :D PS Nothing sorted with Mum's flight :(. Am just waiting to see what my doctor says this morning then we'll see what to do.

okay well at the american hospital they are saying they dont have wifi at all so my understanding there is nothing to connect to unless i go to etisilat or du and buy one of those portable usb internet things... grr... i go back for a check up in a few days i will try and ask more clearly this time... when i originally asked though they almost laughed and looked at me like it was a foreign idea. lol well let us know if its a boy or girl and what name you decide on :) good luck!

That's reminded me - I did meant o post an update on that one. Last time we bought Du cards from the pharmacy downstairs but DH went down earlier and they didn't have any, and then when he stopped at the petrol station on the way home the lady there told him the regular Du top-up cards were only for phones. So I tried to connect to the Du wireless and it said I could use either credit card or our home Du account to get online. I used our home account login and password, which was half the price of using the credit card.
