I'm pretty much set on buying one. Before I do, just wanted to check if any of you Bugaboo owners have used the black Bugaboo travel bag when traveling and how useful is it? Looks cumbersome to me, but then if it protects the pricey stroller from damage then I'm thinking I should get it... If the stroller is wrapped in the bag does it still count towards the stroller allowance that babies are allowed on certain airlines? Thanks!

Agree with everyone else - I have the travel bag and havent used it much at all but it seriously protects the Bugaboo - and like everyone else a Maclaren is great for travelling.

Have used the bugaboo travel bag on Emirates, BA, Easy jet and did not count towards baggage allowance on any of them. Emirates did manage to slash the bag on its first use and would not compensate as they deemed the bag still useable. Had to hire a bigger car to accomodate travel bag plus luggage and didn't really protect chameleon much would pad out with bubble wrap. On the plus side none of the afrore mentioned airlines weighed the travel bag and since it was Xmas and 30kg doesn't quite cover all the extras we loaded up the travel bag and got an extra 10kg. Buy the mclaren and the travel bag if you need the xtra allowance like us if not stick to the mclaren.

Nothing happened to my bugaboo in the travel bag. But you need minimum a stationwaggon to put it in a car..I use Mac laren for travelling, much easier to fold.

Just travelled with Quinny Buzz plus carry cot. Didn't find a proper travel bag (one that looks as if it protects the pram, not just a cover), so wrapped the wheel part in bubble wrap, then in heavy duty garbage bag and then had it plastic wrapped at airport. The carry cot went in its original cardboard box plus plastic wrap at airport. The carry cot arrived in perfect condition, the wheel part had the airport plastic wrap torn at some places, but still protected by bubble wrap. Both didn't count on luggage allowance (Emirates). I have also the Maclaren Techno (after recommendations from EW :) ), and have to say, although thrown without any cover in the hold, it arrived a bit dusty but otherwise in perfect condition.

I wouldn't travel with it if I was you. I know I've sung this song on another thread, but seriously...get a Maclaren for travelling. Probably cost similar to the travel bag anyways. Before we travelled for the first time with DS (5weeks) I planned on getting a Maclaren. But DH put his foot down thinking I just wanted yet another baby accessory. Anyway, our lovely M&P pram got damaged on it's first flight:-( DH gave in and let me get the Maclaren. We have flown with it loads and after a good wash, it still looks brand new. They are amazingly durable. Everyone who has taken my advice and managed to twist their DH's arm into getting a "travelling Maclaren" have been very happy with it and some have even gone on to use it more then their original prams.

I have an iCandy Apple and bought the travel bag for it (around 500dhs). BA still managed to smash up the stroller on our trip home just now and it's ruined. Maybe get the travel bag then get the whole thing wrapped in bubble wrap and plastic? That might do the trick!
