Colic, pacifiers, bottles and a soon to go crazy me.
So Baby Stovetop is 2 months olds today and I am still as confused as I was during the initial days of breastfeeding. We went to the doctor yesterday and were told she is overfed because her weight is 400 grams more than what it should be. We were also told that she has colic and given Infacol.
Till yesterday she was on demand breastfeeds and 2 bottles of formula and 1-2 bottles of expressed BM. Mainly, because she is never satisfied with the breast alone. She doesn't even have a vague schedule or doesn't go for long between breastfeeds. When I told her pead this, she said it was because we were confusing her with too many things. We were told to give her the formula bottle only at a specific time, which we do and it is 10 pm, right before she is put in bed. I tried to not give her expressed BM today, and the day has been spent with her latched on to me continuosly... except for short half n intervals for her bath n massage and then when her Dad took her out for a walk. Once I latch her off, or when she falls asleep at the breast after a LONG time... she wakes up in fifteen minutes and wants to latch on again. She spits out the pacifier, so that's also not seeming like an option for her to self soothe.
I am so confused. Is this colic or insatiable hunger? We've tried the 5 S's of colic, and it doesn't work. She quiets down immediately after we give her the bottle. Don't want to keep giving her a formula bottle because I'm scared of her weight gain. But I cannot possibly spend ALL my time with her latched on to me. Should I just move to exclusively expressed BM, with just the one formula top feed at night? At least then she gets only the bottle and is hopefully not "confused"?
