hey ummyinsh, so sorry for your loss. its very sad and emotionally exhausting. i had ERPC 15 days ago and my insurance did cover it all. i was scheduled for proc in city hospital (6000 aed) but at the last moment my insurance didn't approved as previously when i sought 2 and 3 opinion all the docs did test and unnecessary ultrasounds which exhausted my limit!! i was so stressed that i didn't even objected. finally at the last moment i went to Al Rafa in bur dubai (suggested by my gynaec only) and they billed me for 3000 aed. proc was fine no pain even afterwards only weakness as i have low blood pressure, but my DH and i had to argue with them to discharge me. (i was there from 5 in morning and got home at 7 in eveng!)
i checked with al wasl too but they had only arabic forms at that moment and the guy present didnt knew much english.
do check with 2-3 hospitals as there are different ranges for cash or insurance. and it would be better to check with insurance too. mine was Alico gold.
try and keep yourself tension free
I had to have a D&C for a missed miscarriage at City Hospital a couple of weeks ago and it was covered by our insurance (Daman). The Dr was great and the staff there were lovely - which helped me get through a very difficult day. I was admitted at 6.30am, had the op at 9am and was back home by 5pm. I had very little bleeding afterwards and no pain - although they give you pain killers and antibiotics.
Really sorry to hear that you might have to go through this too xx
FYI, when I was discharged I checked the bill and it was approx 8000AED.
I had a D&C at the American January 2010 and it was covered by the insurance (SAICO). I did find the after care (check ups beyond the initial procedure) shocking though, and wasnt happy with what was done before the D & C too. So sorry that this is a possiblity for you. It makes for an extremely difficult time. I had 3 pregnant sisters at the time too, which didn't help, but I'm now due in July, so definitely a lot of hope afterwards.
Hello Ummyinsh, Firstly, huge hugs to you - I had to have a D&C last September after a missed miscarriage at 11.5wks. It was a really upsetting time, so all my thoughts are with you.
I went to Medcare and have to say, I was looked after incredibly well. I had to be admitted at midnight for them to start me on meds overnight, and had the op at 11am. I was back home early evening and didn't suffer any pain or much bleeding afterwards (although obviously I was very upset and shaken).
Unfortunately, I wasn't covered by insurance as we had recently arrived in Dubai and my husband's company insurance didn't cover me for the first 6 months.
I think it depends on your insurance, I know a friend who had to self-pay for a D&C and was then reimbursed. It's worth checking with your provider so you are prepared.
Feel free to contact me if you want any more info, and I hope everything works out for you xxxxx
Hi feel so sorry you have to go through this. I had one dec 2009. Had mine at Al wasl as i had no insurance at the time, i had a horrendeous experience there sorry to say as i had a high oppinion and high hopes to deliver there at some point too. If i was you and insurance dosnt cover it i would research the cost at another hospital anyways. Now i have insurance and delivered my DD2 in December 2010, there is hope. Hang in there its hard but things will work out. Xx
I am very sorry to hear that you may need one and hope that things work out for you. I had one last year and was covered under SAICO insurance. I had it at that funny hospital on the outskirts of Satwa (on the same road as Rydges Plaza or whatever that hotel is called) with Dr Koster from Dubai Polyclinic and have no complaints. All the best.
Can anyone tell me of their recent D&C experience (in Dubai) and if insurance covered it or not?
Please feel free to share your story with me as I may have to have one soon. Thanks.
