Hi Lonely, Personally I wouldn't worry too much about getting clothes for your new baby, other than plain babygros. They basically live in babygros for the first few weeks anyway so I have unisex of those and then after the baby is born there will be sales again and people will give you things. For my 1st, a girl, we were given lots of gorgeous 0-3 month dresses and it was actually quite a pain putting her in them as babygros much easier! If you can find vests which do up at front rather than go over head they are much easier with newborn (although never actually got round to getting any for my two!) However, I totally understand if you want to continue to try to find out as everyone is different in what they want for their new born. Why doesn't dr Britt recommend? The decision is ultimately down to you, that's just what I'd do! X

Dangerous blonde, steth and bexter, Thanks so much for making me welcome here and I'm so looking forward to meeting you all soon at one of your meetings. You gave me an idea actually that I should take a tour at the hospital and check out the facilities and meet with the midwives. So thanks for that.... I just got my test results for the glucose , thanks god it's normal after being high last month so I was put on a low sugar n carb diet by dr.britt. Though feeling so dizzy lately n hardly got any energy or the breathe to move much n finish all shopping needed! About not knowing the gender of the baby yet do u ladies think I should go for the 3D sonar? Have any of u done it? Dr.britt doesn't advise it. But after having like 7 or 8 regular sonars and still cannot tell if it's a boy or girl I'm getting little frustrated! Especially with all the discounts on baby clothes lately!

Hi all, Great to hear things are going well for you Dangerous blonde. I haven't had my GTT yet but will probably have it on Sunday at 28 weeks. Have got low iron though, they think due to miscarriage just before this pregnancy where lost a lot of blood. Steth, I also experience sharp pains on bump, mainly right side and didn't with first but did with second. Apparently it's due to having the babies close together and the strain you therefore put on your body. I had a 13 month gap first time and now 19 month. I've been told it's not serious and not to worry about it but to try not to do too much lifting. Lonely, welcome! I've not been here long either. Go to some of the groups and you'll meet lots of people in same situation. I have decided to go with Dr Ghada Shate at medcare and have met her. She is pro natural birth and seems lovely. I hope I've made the right decision! I've spoken to medcare twice now to try to look round but they're always full, which doesn't bode well! Mind you, as long as I'm not delivering in a corridor I'm not too worried! Would prefer a private room but a room of 4 isn't bad and is what I'm used to from UK. Xx

dangerous blond: happy to hear that your test went well. was shocked when i was told my test went well, have been so unhealthy this time around that i was sure they were going to tell me i needed to change my diet! as for nine medical centre, thats where my doc is. felt odd going there the first time as thought it was a spa or something but know i like the fact that its not so clinical. was with Dr Amir for my first pregnancy and couldn't have been happier with him. and doctor george it wonderful, one of the best at what he does. Lonely in DxB: welcome to dubai! know this place can be tough at first but once you've made some friends it does gets easier. i've been there and to be honest i still get home sick every now and then as have no family closer than a 16hr flight away. if there is ever anything you need feel free to get in contact with me on steth81 at gmail dot com,even if its just for a chat. would be happy to meet up if you like also, but can organise that off of the forum. i to am due on the 9th of december with my second son (so most likely going through similar experience. had my first son in dubai 15months ago and was extremely impressed with the delivery team/ midwives/ nurses at city hospital. the delivery team were wonderful, was a little dissapointed with the post natal care though, but think they were over worked on the weekend i delivered as they had 17 other woman in there at the same time (which i was told was not the norm). will most likely deliver there again though as was still happy with there care. hope everyone is doing well xx

Hello ladies! I just joined this site. I'm new to Dubai ,just moved here to live with my husband. I have a son who's 7yrs old and now pregnant with my 2nd baby . I'm 29 weeks pregnant and told I was due on dec 8th. The only thing that's really bothering me is after several ultrasounds doctors still can't determine the *** of the baby due to the position he or she lays in! Making it so hard to shop.....im seeing Dr.Britt at City hospital. Still got no plans for delivery. Would love to hear your input about who, where to deliver my baby. I hope to meet you all at your next meet up , I've been really lonely here and haven't made any friends yet. My family are all back home so would love to feel support from women going through same situation.

Hi ladies,congratulations to you all. hope everyone is feeling well. haven't been in this section for a while and was happy to see that there was a december group! i too am expecting to deliver dec 9th if all goes to plan. have been told that the second one often comes early, so its anybodies guess. haven't really given this pregnancy much thought as am always busy with my DS number one, but of late i've started to get excited with the thought of another baby boy. lately however have been having sharp stabbing pains on my right side. has anyone else been experiencing these pains? don't remember having them the first time around.

I am expecting my first baby and it's a girl : ) I have been using dr Jozsa at health bay clinic, so far so good! and I have signed up for the antenatal classes there, I heard they are good. I had my gloucose test a few weeks ago unfortunately it was high, so I have to watch my diet and do home blood gloucose monitoring every day!

Thanks Bexter :) good to know that there is this pet net thing. Is that available in babyshop (maybe I can get one on sale). Is that net something strong enough to prevent the cat to land on top of the baby if they accidentally jump inside the crib? Is that available here in UAE? Trying to search for the same but didn't find any.. I find one article about retractable screen door but not sure if I find it here and if the same is safe.. Need to do lots of browsing for this.. Hi Hassli, You can get animals nets, although I don't know much more about them. A friend used one. I'll ask another friend what she did, she didn't use a net but the cats were shut out at night in the kitchen area. She never had any problems. Try not to get scared about the birth. I am expecting my third and both previous times I went into labour naturally around my due date. You can expect your baby may come early but it doesn't mean that will happen. I wouldn't get them to induce you early or try to get you to have it by 37 weeks. If it comes naturally then great but otherwise it's probably better in the womb for a bit longer (I'm no medical expert, just saying my experience). I have friends who have been induced at 42 weeks and they said it's not as bad as you expect. I went into labour on due date for first and a week early for second. Hope that's some help.

That's so nice.. Wish to come too as well but I can't.. Wish you all have a great time..:) By the way, I'm now 28 weeks and 1 day... 11 weeks and 6 days to go to reach the 40th week.. And my doctor's nurse told me that there are cases that as early as 37weeks, we can expect the baby. (that means 9 weeks from now) we are getting closer and I'm bit scared... Can we really expect to deliver ad early as 37 weeks? Will you wait for your water to broke naturally? Or you will opt for induce procedure (if given a chance)... Im afraid that if they will induce me, I will ended up ceasarian rather than normal delivery... (the nurse told me that by practice, my doctor really opt for early delivery for most of her patients and she will just need to turn something inside to help my body produce the hormone which triggers the labor - I'm confused if I will agree with her or wait for my water to broke out naturally). What are your thoughts about this? I will be start my off from Dec 1... I feel more tired as my tummy is already as big as the Basketball :) but still manageable :) I also have another question,to cat owners.. How will you manage having baby and taking care of the cat at the same time.. Also, is there anything I can put on top of a wooden cot (which is safe) and will protect the baby from my 3 cats? I am clueless if there is any, (my husband is bit worried that the cats will jump and try to sleep with the baby and we have a small flat... all i can think of is to close the bedroom door at all times and slowly introduce my cats to my son).. Yes, it is driving me crazy working out what to do! Dr Sharda is the other obs at the clinic so I expect the other one will be good too. She was nice when i met her. I thought I'd made my mind up to stay with dr farnaz but now in turmoil again. Nevermind, sure it will work out fine in end! Thanks!

The Dangerous Blond… thank you for the lead on prenatal hypnotherapy, I will have a look into it, but like you it’s just finding the time. Bexter… I was going to move to Medcare but I am sticking with the welcare, however as I work in JBR I go to the Medcare clinic and see Dr Sharda if I am not able to get to see my Dr at the hospital. Been to see he a few times and she is really nice and will always spend a good 30 minutes with me and I know she also delivers at the hospital, but the reviews on her are not so good so it’s really mixed. I. Just think you have to select one and then stick to it as I spent a few months worrying if I had chosen the right place etc and it was driving me crazy. :):)

Hi all, I have just come on to this site and seen how many people are due in December. I am due December 23rd with third baby. I am just in a period of muddle as my obstetrician has just told me she may be away for my delivery. I am currently with Dr Farnaz and delivering at Medcare Hospital. I am thinking of changing to Dr Ghada Shate who is a Medcare obstetrician working out of the clinic in JBR where I live (no info on her on expat woman but doesn't necessarily mean she isn't good). However, I keep getting mixed opinions of whether I should do this or not. some are saying I shouldn't have hospital obstetrician as they aren't informative in delivery and try to force c-section and other procedures. I had both my others naturally with no pain relief so think I can do this again. It is much cheaper to have hospital package (although I have already spent most of my insurance money as was told I needed amniocentesis) but don't want to swap if will be a risk. I think some of you may be having your babies at medcare? I would be grateful for your opinions on this matter. Thank you so much.

Perfect will look forward to seeing you there and will be nice to know someone already. I think it will be good and I also like the fact she is a British Midwife and her postnatal care is AED 150 per session and she can offer all the checks that you would get in the UK and a free post natal baby cafe. I feel so much more at ease knowing she is a phone call away also should I need anything. Yes with the payment it does have to be made straight away so we are going at the weekend to pay. The one day class works so much better for us too than 4 individual classes as I don’t finish work till 6.30pm and DH is in Abu Dhabi every day. This is the info they sent me and we are booked on the 3rd Nov but this may be a bit late for you: Cooper Health Clinic, Tel. no. 04-3486344, www.cooperhealthclinic.com The confirmed dates are the first Saturday of each month, so the next one would be on 06 October and 03 November 2012. Classes will be held in Cooper Nursery by our midwife Deborah from 09.00 am to 04.00 pm. We are offering refreshments and a light lunch. The cost is AED 1500.00 per couple Hope this helps. Good luck on the Interviewing tonight, you will have to let me know how it goes.

I have just signed up for Antenatal Class with Cooper Health Clinic with midwife Deborah Williams she offers a one day class on a Saturday for AED 1500 for a couple and she is lovely. She also does postnatal care for anyone that needs it and is a lot cheaper than what the hospitals offer. Can’t wait either Dangerous blond to be a lady of leisure… are you going back to work after 3 months then?

Hello all mummies I have just come across this thread and I am so pleased to have found you all… congratulations to everyone it’s such an exciting time. I am a first time mum (Age 30) and I am due to give birth to a baby boy on the 22nd December. I am 26 weeks and approaching the third trimester now. I am due to give birth at Welcare hospital and I am seeing a lady called Dr Jennifer… She is lovely. I was a bit unsure of where to have the little one as there is so much choice and reviews on the website It can drive you crazy looking at all the options but have decided to stick with the Welcare. I am also looking to book my Antenatal Classes and have found that Cooper Health Clinic offer a one day session so trying to get booked in for October. Where have you all booked? I have just come back from a week in the UK and feeling very home sick and starting to get nervous about the whole birth thing and not having my family and friends around L. I live in Dubai Marina and would love to meet up with some other mums to be so let me know if anyone is interested.

I'll probably end up with the pedi in Motor City since it's close and I hear she's fab! Bonus that she's pro-breastfeeding and takes our insurance. As far as pumps, I got an Ameda Purely Yours from the States. I was going to go with the Medela PISA but I preferred the close system so milk doesn't get in the motor. 28 weeks and now I'm seeing my OB every two weeks. Checking position of baby boy but most likely will stay breech due to my bircornuate uterus. :( Already talk of c-section which is a little disappointing but I've come to terms with it. Just nervous about caring for a newborn while recovering from surgery! Thought I had a UTI but today's scan showed baby was about ankle deep in my bladder. Gave it a few good kicks while we were watching. Explains a lot. :P

Hi TDB, All getting very exciting now! We still have to get car seat and buggy yet and were hoping to go with either Britax or Graco isofix system that can be transferred to a buggy. Any suggestions on where to go for the car seat that has knowledgeable staff? I found Babyshop terrible with regards to the staff - they just didnt have a clue and didnt have either brand for newborns. Had my glucose test and all good and have another appointment tomorrow so fingers x all goes well. Dont worry about measuring small - Im sure she is absolutely fine and as you said, you are a small family too! Plus 3rd trimester is when the weight piles on from what I have heard so you have lots of time yet! :) I know exactly what you mean about the grunts and groans - I feel like an old woman most of the time between aching back. hips, cramps at night, aching fingers and wrists etc - not to mention feeling like a beached whale! Awwww I complain but I wouldnt change it for the world! DH is absolutely amazing, so supportive and helpful at home - I dont know what I would do without him! I was looking at the Medala Swing - have heard really good things about it. Hope everyone is well and not too tired!

Hi ladies :) It sounds as if everyone is progressing along well :) That's always good to hear.. In between my second bout of horribly annoying mood swings (crying for nothing and out of nowhere like in the first trimester) things are great. Appointment on Thursday showed my little girl, to be getting bigger by the day. She's already over 1kg; nearly 3lbs by US measuring standards and at 17inches long! I've already got a mini-me on board! lol. I'm 5'10" and her father is 6'0", so I never thought she'd be a little one. I really can't wait to meet her... the little thumps are turning into big jabs more often than not. Someone mentioned round ligament pain; "oohh oohh, me, me!" -my poor lower abdomen. I've been doing pre-natal yoga for a couple weeks now since returning from summer holiday and that seems to help a lot. Sitting for prolonged periods of time in one position seems to agrivate the pain I find. Then even though she'll be in our room for the first couple of months (inshallah), already went and put the nursery together for the most part. I wanted to decorate myself and best to do that before I hit weeble status and can't move anymore! :) I think it's okay to splurge and don't let anyone tell you any different! Besides, there's always the next baby or a friend/family member that can use hand-me-downs that are gently used. I know I appreciate them! Starting week 29 tomorrow...I can't believe it's gone this fast already! Good luck to all :) I so enjoy hearing of your experiences, I find it comforting! edited by Buckeye@heart on 15/09/2012
