I just got health cards for the small people this morning and now need to go get vaccinations for them. Latifa hospital said we have to go to Umm Suqeim clinic but I've been calling them and it's constantly engaged. Do I need to make an appointment or can I just turn up? And can anyone tell me where it is, please? The map online isn't exactly precise!

Not directly connected but just wanted to say... Went today for 6 month shots to Al Safa (a bit late because of the flu). Brilliantly handled. In and out in 30 minutes, including a well baby check, brief on what happens next and the making of our next appointment (with the notification bySMS before we reached our car). Once we got past the initial hassle of registering, I find it so convenient and worth it. Huge believer here :D

Will do. I'm hoping to pop down there Monday morning so I'll post as soon as I've been.

That's super helpful, thanks susandiaz! The lady at Latifa told me Umm Suqeim, but I'm not sure if Nad Al Sheba is actually closer to us (we're in Al Waha and the lady at Latifa didn't seem to know where that was!). I guess I'll just have to pop down to Umm Suqeim with all my paperwork and see what happens :D. DubaiCat - please let me know which hospital they will register you in. I am also in Al Waha area (Layan) - will be helpful to know

So there's every chance I could schlep down there with the kids in tow only to be told that I actually need to schlep elsewhere?! Oh, fun times... ta! :D

You will also need to take your recent DEWA bill with you, they work out from your DEWA number which clinic you can register at according to the catchment area, rather then which clinic is [i'>actually[/i'> nearer to where you live!! Umm Sequim is closer to our home, but we our registered at Safa clinic (very annoying).

For your first appointment, you're best off going there to make an appointment because they'll expect proof of residence. It works according to location closest. So take your tenancy contract and passport copies to be on the safe side. If not there'll be a bit of a run around. http://www.dha.gov.ae/EN/Facilities/HealthCenters/Pages/default.aspx If you look on there and choose the clinic closest to you it'll list 'catchment areas' and you can cross check. Once you get your appointment its very organized I found. Remiders and everything. Easy enough to reschedule as well.

Yes you will need apt! It's pretty much at the bottom of Al Manara St but on Beach Rd. Probably better to actually go in and make apt rather than call. :)
