Hi all, am new here. pregnant with my first baby. :)) am so glad to see moms and moms-to-be due in november too :). My due date is 11-11-11, I know, so crazy ^^, I hope I can make it, it's usually an estimation, though!!!

Hi everyone, I'm due with first baby on the 9th November with Dr George at the American Hospital. I'm a newbie, just moved in the last month to Dubai from the Uk, living on the palm and would love to meet up and get to know some other mums to be/mums. Happy to travel to meet up just sorting out driving licence.... thanks!

Yellow Jelly Bean, So weird, i read that you had no sickness or anything and i didn't either. And you're from the UK too. I'd love to meet up for coffee (decaf). I live in the springs, which area are you in. This is extended to all of course!!! So glad this forum exists, it's helping me to get excited and at the same time calming me down when i panic over little things. Thanks guys. X Thats wierd! yea i had no morning sickness at all, was quite smug about it actually :) was worried at times, but have had to learn to stay away from google because it scares me, would rather come on here and speak to real women. Yea would definately be up for meeting up, im going back to the uk in a week (lucky me) will be gone a few weeks, so maybe when i get back we can meet up for a cuppa, might even have a bump then! Im in Jumeira so not too far, drive as well so dont mind going anywhere. We should try to get all of us november ladies together, gets me out of the house and away from this heat! :)

Hi everyone, I'm due Nov 14th. First baby. Very excited. Dr George (a guy) at American Hospital was recommended to me by a mother who had had her 3rd baby out here and had some experience of these things. My husband and i are thrilled with him. He's very calm, he includes my husband in things, and seems to be really excited about our baby too. He also gives you his personal mobile number so if you (god forbid) have any bleeding or problems you can get in contact with him directly. Although he is very busy (he is the fetal medicine consultant) and not everything is covered by insurance, such as scans, i'm sure he would be able to take you. Also, due to his speciality, he would take someone with a pre-existing condition. So glad that this thread has started. I'm 26 so although i don't regard myself as young to be pregnant but, i do feel like i don't have a group of mothers to be around me that i feel comfortable with. None of my friends out here are at that stage yet, they're still brunching which is not much fun for me. I haven't wanted to go to any coffee morning yet cos i'm not showing and i feel a bit of a fraud. It's really great to have this though, i'm sure i'll feel different when i'm showing. I managed to get an apt with Dr Raj - Love her! so happy with her shes great :)

Hi Ladies My DS is 15 months , and if Dr Yuliya who did my 12 week scan was right my DD (another one for the pink team :) `is expected on the 18th Nov , but my DS was almost 2 weeks late lets hope no 2 keeps to time! or i will be jioning the "Due December" club! Dr Ebrahim at City Delivered DS via emergency C-section - after 2 days in labour - and at no point was i forced into a C , as a gyne , he is very good and I trust him, but have to admit he not exactly the warm fatherly type, for those looking for a good gynea at a good hospital. Would love to meet up ... with new mums ...we where there no so long ago ....and with the mums who already have little munchins

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate the advice and recommendations. Funnily enough my next two choices after Dr Elsa were Dr George and Dr Raj as I've read and heard great things about both of them, so it's great to have further confirmation! I requested an appointment today with Dr George via the American Hospital website (a lady I know just delivered with him and thought he was fantastic) so fingers crossed I get in with him. If not, I'll try Dr Raj and if not her then I'll go back to the drawing board! I've learned a little more about my insurance too and I believe it will cover American and won't matter that I have a pre-existing condition, so that's promising. In all honesty if we have to pay for all of it, then life because if there's anything I don't want to skimp on, it's the birth of my child... I personally feel it's worth the expense to get the right carers. Especially as I have c-section fear! Coffee get togethers sound great, although I'm a little older at 34 and this is my second child. I'll still be a brand newbie to Dubai when I finally get there though and there's nothing quite like sharing pregnancy and early parenthood to build up a bond with great new friends. Huge congrats to all my fellow pregnant ladies! I hope you all have a smooth journey to parenthood and thoroughly enjoy the process. Kat x

I'm a June mum to be but am pouncing on this thread. I can recommend Dr Raj at the American. Great sense of humour, included my DH in everything, was pro-natural birth, answered my extensive list of questions (!) and gave me lots of advice. She also gives her mobile number in case of any emergencies - came in handy the next day after my appt when I needed to speak to her after a beach umbrella took off and landed in my stomach - yikes!! My doula had her last 2 babies with Dr Raj and came highly recommended. I heard Dr Braithwaite and Dr George both good too. I couldn't decide between American and Welcare and so also had an appt with Dr Janaki at Welcare. She was lovely - very professional but I felt Dr Raj had the edge for me as she was so personable and also used to practise at the hospital of my home town in the UK. Also I felt the American was more flexible in terms of my wishes than the Welcare which set out a few restrictions which I know I won't want to be hassled with arguing against on day of my c-section!! The American also felt fresh and bright and more like a hotel than a hospital. Dr Koster at the Health Bay Poly clinic comes recommended by a good friend. She delivers at the American and maybe somewhere else I'm not sure. I was originally with Dr. Katerina at the City and happy with her and the hospital and only left because she did and I couldn't get an appt with anyone else at City. I was going to continue with her at her new clinic, but she only delivers at International Modern and that wasn't on my list of hospitals I wanted to give birth in. Re insurance, not all of them have waiting periods but may have restrictions - a lot of insurances don't cover the American. My DH moved jobs recently and the insurance immediately covered me for maternity, just not enough to cover the actual cost (how helpdful!) and did not cover the American although it covered the Welcare. As my baby is due in November, unfortunately this was a little too late for me to have my first appointment with her! :) Guess I'll keep hunting. Thanks again, Kat Eeeeek, that's ages away! I have also spoken to Dr Braithwaite at the American Hospital and while I didn't meet her in person (I spoke to her through work, but about pregnancy and childbirth) I was very impressed with her manner and approach. She would have been my second choice if we hadn't been able to see Dr Elsa again.

Thanks for that DubaiCat, much appreciated. I've read good things about Dr Elsa and City Hospital but that she's difficult to get an appointment with, so perhaps I'd best try to pre-arrange an appointment before I arrive. I have no idea how private health insurance will work of course because even though my husband's work will provide it, I have a pre-existing condition, so I'm guessing I can't bypass the waiting periods? I guess worst case we'll just have to fork out for it... such is life. All part of the adventure!

Congratulations on the baby and the move! You can register with an obstetrician at any stage of your pregnancy, but you might find the more popular ones harder to get an appointment with. Although, having said that, summer might be a bit quieter as lots of people are away. I was adamant I wanted a natural birth - barring any medical complications - and Dr Elsa was very supportive of this.

Hi ladies I'm not in Dubai yet but looking like moving over from Australia in July and I'm due on 15th November with my second. I have a 16 month old daughter as well. I'll be 5 months pregnant when I arrive... do you think that will cause me any issues with booking in to a decent Obstetrician? Should I try and pre-book one now? I'm also afraid of c-sections so would like a caring OB who is pro vaginal birth. Thanks for the advice and looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months!

DS is almost one and I'm due November 24. To say this one was an accident would be an understatement - more like the next best thing to an immaculate conception! :D We see Dr Elsa at City and are very, very happy with her. She delivered DS after a rather hurried induction thanks to pre-eclampsia, and we have every faith in her. We aren't going to find out pink or blue (although this time I have been slightly tempted) so it'll be a surprise. I had some nausea early on but now, apart from feeling like a fat, frumpy heifer, I don't have any symptoms at all.

Hi November ladies. Hope your all doing great into the 2nd trimester. I just had my NT scan at almost 14 wks and found out were on the Pink team! So 1 pink one blue so far for Nov! :)

Hello ladies. Im due 25th Nov. this is our 3rd baby. Eldest is almost 6yrs and youngest is 4yrs old. Have had morning sickness (nausea and Vomitting from week 5-present.) Its kinda wearing off now some days but then the heartburn takes over in the evenings!! Could you all advise me on where to have the baby. I have had natural births with the other two and would prefr the same again.. I keep hearing some hospitals lean more towards ceasarians (IM SCARED OF THEM!!) Im thinking of going to Dr.Rajlakshmi at American, after reading few reviews...but any other reccomendations or where you are going so I can have options. This will be my 1st baby in Dubai. We have been in dubai almost 2 yrs now (in oct) what do I have to do exactly. Do u meet with the doctors at the hospitals and pick or just choose someone and ask ur GP to refer you to that hospital? TIA Hope to get to know u more over the weeks !
