Congrats to all on the upcoming Feb babies! Tootypy, I agree with Coffee Mates great advice as well. I am with Dr Britt, and after my first appointment last week, I am very confident I made the right choice. The appointment was quick as she had a baby to deliver but I could tell from the get-go that she is definitely the right doctor for me. I went back to the UK last time to have my son and was a bit wary on delivering here to be honest, but I am very at ease with it all now after selecting the right doctor and hospital. I did initially want to go to Al Zahra mainly because they have a pool to labour in that sounds great & more midwife led, but my insurance doesn't cover it & non reimbursable out of network. If you aren't restricted by insurance then I would definitely consider choosing either City or Al Zahra, both seem to be popular with western expats and meet with our UK type expectations (or even better). Norts, I know someone with Dr Ibrahim and she is very happy with him. Oh your so lucky you escaped the morning sickness! Thank god we are all getting over that stage though and progressing on to the next. So ladies, I guess the next milestone for us is the 20 wk scan. Where are you all booked in? I got a referral for Dr George but realised after making my appointment that my insurance doesn't cover his clinic, so I asked to be referred within City instead. Not sure why the doctors at City seem to prefer their patients to go to Dr George for the scan. I am sure he is great, but I don't see the point to pay out of pocket when I can get what I need from within City and have it fully covered. Do you all know what you are having? or is anyone keeping it a surprise? The Dr is pretty sure this one is a girl but it was a very quick scan last week as she was in a rush so we need to have it reconfirmed at the 20 wk scan. However, I am 99.9% sure it is a girl as I saw my sons scan at this stage and it was glaringly obvious that he was a boy, this time there was a major lack of boy parts!

Glad to see more Feb babies joining! Tootypy, Coffee Mate's advice is great, hope that helped. I am with Gr George (for the second time) and I really like him and trust him but his clinic is on a pay and claim basis so depending on your insurance you may be out of pocket for a while or they may not cover the whole amount (for "out of network" they tend to cover about 80%). Many ladies have been recommending Al Zahra hospital lately, it's near Tecom/Marina in case that's closer top you, go check it out, they're supposed to be more midwife led as in the UK.

Hi ladies, Glad to find this thread! I am also due in February with my 3rd. We have only moved to dubai two weeks ago,, so trying to get my kids & house sorted first, now it's the turn of the bump. As i had my last two in the uk on the NHS, I really have no idea what to look for here. My pregnancies have been easy enough, but difficult deliveries. I am trying to get recommendations of where to go, but so far no two have said the same place/dr. I really am not fussy if it's male or female, just experienced and I trust. Any tips?! X Congrats and welcome! First off, do you have insurance or will you be self paying? If insurance, check your policy and find out which hospitals you are covered to give birth in. That will lead you onto which doctors deliver in those hospitals so you can start to make a shortlist. If you are self paying, perhaps start by researching the prices of packages at various hospitals. They can vary greatly. Where do you live? The proximity to the hospital/doctor might lead you to one establishment over another for example. I am seeing Dr Britt at City Hospital and I chose her after reading reviews - she's pro natural, worked in UK for many years, follows UK schedule. She was the first doctor I consulted with and luckily just 'clicked' so I never considered anyone else. My insurance also covers City Hospital, so no issues there and it's the closest hospital to where I live. My advice would be to consult with maybe 2-3 (unless you hit lucky first time like I did!) and choose who you feel most comfortable with. I notice you said you don't mind male or female - DR George at Genesis is wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate in seeing him either (also delivers at CH but has his own clinic.) Good luck

Hi Girls, I too am expecting in Feb (26th) this is my second. I already have a son who just turned 2, I gave birth to him here in Medcare and had a bad experience with Dr.Azza there so wont be doing that again. I am planning on having this one in City since I have heard good things. I wanted to get an appointment with Dr.Elsa since she delivered naturally for my friend. However, I cant get an appointment until January so that is not an option now. Instead I have opted for Dr. Ibrahim, he seems good and having a male doctor doesn't bother me at all one he does a good job. I have had my 12 week checkup and Nuchal scan and blood test at the clinic nearby. I have a check up next Thursday so am looking forward to that. I have been really blessed this time, after a very difficult pregnancy with my son with many complications this one has been super easy (so far). I have had Zero morning sickness and virtually no pregnancy symptoms except for my expanding belly and boobs. I appreciate that I am blessed and hope those of you not feeling well my wishes. I know how hard it can be!

Hi Ladies just wanted to know if any ladies knew of good private clinic that does 4d scan and 20 week morphology scan in AD or Al ain? Hi DxBMum, Sorry, not familiar with either, but if it's not too much hassle coming to Dubai, both FMC and Dr George get high ratings here.

Hi ladies! I am due 3 February. Glad to see a February due date thread. It is my 2nd pregnancy too but would be first time giving birth in Dubai. I am with Dr. Yamini at Al Zahra hospital. I chose her based on the reviews here in EW. So far so good. Good luck to all of us!

Hi VZ, I have heard many good things about dr Britt so if you want a woman Dr see how it goes with her. But Dr George is great too; I did all my 1st trimester screening with him 2 weeks ago and everything came back fine thankfully. I also did the NiPT out of choice, it wasn't necessary, but gave me more peace of mind.

Thanks for the info coffee mate, that's really good to know. I thought she was on leave now as couldn't get my 1st appointment until start Sept even though I booked it last month. Are you happy with Dr Britt? I am sure once I got over the initial weirdness of a male doctor I'd be fine, main thing is that you feel you have a good doctor I guess, that's all that matters. Not used to a doctor led pregnancy/birth at all as I only saw a midwife for my first child and even all the way through to the delivery I never saw a doctor once until being discharged from the hospital, so even the doctor concept is strange to me, feel like it's all new to me even though I already had a baby lol. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and hope you have a smooth birth!

VZ, just wanted to let you know that I am seeing Dr Britt and when she is away, her colleague Dr Anne Phillip covers her patients. Dr George is who she refers her specialist scans to at 12 and 20 weeks. I'm actually seeing dr Anne next week as Brit is currently away (just incase I go into labour before she is back!) However, I'd have no qualms about seeing DR George for any future pregnancies as he is great (and I was initially wary of a male as well)

Congrats to you too! I have an appointment with Dr Britt Clausson at City once I'm back in Dubai. Wasn't sure what doctor to go for so just took an appointment with whoever was available, but City does seem the best option. Although, someone mentioned that Dr Britt may be going on leave in Jan sometime and I think she recommends Dr George in case she is not there. I still feel bit strange about a male doctor though, I know it's silly and I definitely won't care on the big day anyway, but I would rather have female doctor. I'm with you on the nausea and indigestion, also dealing with a horrible taste after I eat, brushing my teeth a lot these days! I'm struggling a bit with this pregnancy compared to my first. I have gained a lot of weight, but I was slightly below my average weight to start with, I'm not overly happy about such a weight gain so early on but I don't feel it's something to worry about too much as I'm sure it will even out. I am showing way earlier compared to my first and I also am having some stomach issues. However, trying not to moan too much, I knew what I signed up for this time! Did you do any sort of NT tests or the blood tests? I am in the UK at the min so I done the combined blood test and scan, waiting on the results coming out in the post, but if I was in Dubai I would have done the other blood tests that can detect the baby's cells and even tell you the gender as those seem more accurate, but they don't offer them in UK. Are you finding out gender? I am desperately waiting till my appointment at City to find out. I am planning a big clean out/refurb as soon as I get home to Dubai and if this baby is a girl then I have a ton of boy things I need to get rid of ASAP so I can make space for the new stuff! Maybe it's because I am not working at the moment, but I just feel a major need to be super organised!!

Congrats VZ! I'm due Feb 25 and it's my second as well, I have a 2yr old daughter. I am with Dr George but I will probably go back home for the delivery as I did the first time, so not too concerned about hopsitals. If I were to give birth in Dubai though I'd be going to City hospital where my Dr delivers. I've been having nausea and a constant feeling of indigestion but it's much better than the first time so I'm just waiting for a couple more weeks when hopefully it will pass. How about yourself?
