My current gynac seems to be calling me in every week. Is this normal? I thought the frequency of visits increase during your third trimester?

I went in for my appointment yesterday, and everything is perfectly fine. She has now asked me to come in after 2 weeks just to see how the baby is progressing. My insurance coverage kicks in only in Jan, and I do want to make sure everything is going smoothly, but i dont wnt to overdo it!

The midwife here didn't want to see me at all until 12 weeks. She said unless I wanted iron tablets or something for pregnancy sickness then there wasn't much point.

once at about 11 weeks! lol At the end of the day, they can poke, prod, scan and monitor all they want, but there's nothing they can do about any aspect of the first trimester. If the pregnancy is viable, it will carry on of its own accord, and if it isn't, then it isn't for a reason. The only thing that would need monitoring and/or checking is if you're in severe pain (ectopic pregnancies and the like).

I visited the doctor once every month until the 8th, in the eight I went once every 2 weeks and in the last month I went every week.

With my DD I was every 4 weeks until 30 weeks and then fortnightly until 36 and then weekly! I think unless you have problems/complications weekly may be a little excessive. Is your insurance happy paying all this? Do you have a limit on your maternity cover or is it unlimited? Personally I would rather save my insurance for if/when I need it rather than maxing out early... but thats of course dependant on each individual circumstance. Have you discussed this with your doc?

For my first pregnancy in Australia, the Ob did not want to see me until the 12 week mark. I think your Dr asking you in every week is excessive, unless of course there is a problem that needs to be closely monitored.

Opps, I should have added that my Doctor said our appointments will be once a month until later on in my pregnancy.

I went twice in my first trimester. The first time was at 8 weeks to confirm pregnancy and I had a scan to determine approximate due date. My second appointment was at 12 weeks and I had the NT scan. I'm about to go this coming week and I'll be 18 weeks now and I'm having an anomly scan and hopefully finding out if I'm having a wee boy or girl!

every week is not requirered as long as you are not at high risk..still every week is too much. in my first trimester i had 3 visits, one to confirm pregnancy at 6 weeks, second for heartbeat at 9 weeks, other at 13 week to just determine the growth of baby ( i had these much as i had the previous case of miscarriage and have pcos)....so now i am starting my 15 week and i have my next appointment on 11 dec. in between if i have some problem i call my gynae but no scans. and you are right my doc has told me that after 32 weeks she'll be calling me weekly. limit your visits dear and try and enjoy your pregnancy ( although i am still fighting nausea and tiredness :) )
