My son was a bit older, 4 months, when we flew from London to Sydney and it really is the best time to travel with babies I.e. before they are walking and talking. Are you breast feeding? I was told to try and time the feed for take off, so that when we got to the point where your ears pop, your baby is sucking, thus helping them to equalise the pressure in their ears. I also took formula because I was terrified that the altitude would do something funny to my breast milk but of course it was all fine.

Hi Bubbles, I also flew with a 5 week old recently and it was ok, we had some crying spells but overall quite manageable. Where I come from vaccinations start at 2 months and if you are flying economy and the baby has not had any vaccinations (esp. not BCG) and it's a really full flight I might be a bit worried about the air in the cabin.Then again, I know many many people do it and are just fine, depends how much you worry about such things. Best of luck!

Yes, travelled when my children were: Ds1 - 4weeks Ds2 - 3 weeks (c-section) Dd - 16days old Though I wish I stayed at home.

It's super easy at that age, so please try not to stress to much about it. You'll look back when they are toddlers and beg for the days you travelled with a newborn ;)

I did when my baby was 8 weeks and it was very easy. He slept most of the time and loved the aircraft's white noise!

I flew all the way to the USA via London when my son was 5 weeks old. It is so easy to travel when they are that young!

Oh cool, that sounds reassuring! I'm estimating to fly between 4-5 weeks. Fingers crossed! The thought of being away from my husband that long sucks! Not just for me but for baby too. I have been told by my colleague (Mum of 2) that the docs will say after 6 week checkup but they do and can fly earlier

it took a month to get the passport and we were on a plane a week later. this is the easiest time to fly! they sleep most of the way because they love the movement/noise.

I've checked every site I could find and most say once the baby gets the all clear from the doc at the 2 week check up, it's fine to fly. But 2 weeks is still a bit young I think. Maybe I'm wrong. I just think of all that recycled air on flights!

I'm going to deliver in Dublin with family and I am going to need to travel back to dubai shortly after with my parents so I can be with my husband. Has anyone done this? X I have seen lots of babies on Emirates flights. You can use your pram up to the door and have a bassient seat. Dont babies have to be 6 weeks old to fly? I may be wrong and other posters will advise you
