My delivery truly went down without a hitch! I had some spotting on Wednesday morning but no pain. So I went to the hospital. They told me I could go home and come back when the pain started. I told them that I had no pain until the very end with my second child so having no pain is no reason to go home. I also insisted on an epidural. And that was it! I waited and when the slightest pain started, I demanded the epidural. Yes, I am a chicken! After that, I basically just waited and was on my IPad until about 5 minutes before he was born. There were a few nurses and one doctor in the room. I pushed a few times and he was out! They had to tell me when to push because I felt nothing. I had no tearing because my baby was small (2.57 kg) so I was able to leave after 24 hours. A perfect birth for me! And I thought Latifa Hospital was excellent in their care. If I ever have a fourth baby, I'd definitely go there!

My baby boy was born on Wednesday night. I had an NVD with epidural and it was a perfect labor and birth for me. I was due on the 23rd. We weren't expecting him to come so early but I'm glad he did because the pregnancy was getting tiring. He is really tiring me now though, because he is sleeping all day but awake most of the night! :(

I wouldn't get induced unless there is a really convincing medical reason to do so. Being induced comes with some risks and a higher chance of you needing a c-section, plus , if your body and the baby are not there yet t might not even work. if you know your regular Dr is away, why not use the time left to meet the Dr that will most likely be there? besides , only a small percentage of babies arrive on their due date so your Dr might even be here after all. With my first I was pretty distressed when my regular Dr didn't return from her anual leave a few days before my due date, but in the end I was fine and the Dr attending the birth was just as good. This time round (last week , so might be first baby of this thread to have arrived in June) I only met the Dr attending the birth literally as I was pushing and that was perfectly fine as well. (it all went rather quick this time ) It is important to have a good Dr, but once it comes to the actual birth it is you who is doing all the work, he or she is just assisting you and is there should any complications arise. Plus he/she will have your records and will be informed about you and your pregnancy edited by Lilli34 on 11/06/2012

I'm so fed up now....Anon, I hear your pain, walking is giving me constant braxton hicks & period type pains with backache! Gosh the last few weeks are not that much fun are they??? How is everyone else coping? Also my Consultant told me last week that she's gonna be away for the week of my due date. Luckily she's happy to induce me before she goes but to be honest I'd rather go into labour myself! Have just posted a thread about acupressure in hope that someone may recommend a place to get it done. Still I think I'd rather be induced than meet a new doctor in labour! Had a sweep this morning & I came home & had a siesta! Well that's working isn't it?? Lol Oh gosh, feel like I could moan for Ireland at the mo...apologies ladies :)

I have horrible pain with every move, although I'm fine when I'm walking. I can hardly eat anymore because my heartburn is so bad, but that has to be a good thing since I feel like a whale...

Baby boy cakes was born on 24th may at 5.20pm. Forceps delivery after being induced at 9am on 23rd. He's a big boy 3.97kg. He's in ICU still as he is pretty bruised and has a fractured collar bone, hopefully he will be out tomorrow. I can't praise the medcare staff enough. Congratulations cakes. Hope baby cakes is doing well.

Hi! I was just thinking of reviving this thread this morning, and lo and behold, here it is! My feet are fine, actually. They have not gotten bigger. I remember that they did during my first pregnancy but not with my second so I am hoping they will stay the same size the third time around. The only thing I'm having is groin pain. I think that's what it's called. I'm fine walking around but getting up and down plus moving around in bed and driving is causing me a lot of pain. I told my doctor because I did not get this so soon with previous pregnancies and she said it is because I am not in my 20s anymore. Everything is going well with the pregnancy so I assume it's not a big deal. Is anyone else experiencing this? It's called joint/round ligament pain and is common in subsequent pregnancies because your muscles aren't as tight anymore. The weight of the baby and the stretching of the uterus causes the pain. It's AWFUL! What helped me was sleeping with a pillow between my legs. If the pain extends down your legs like I experienced, then the following might help: Magnesium supplement Powdered calcium (mixed in water or milk 30mins before bedtime) Bananas

Afternoon ladies, hope your all doing well. My feet have been huge since 4/5 months, bp is normal- doc said as long as my face and hands don't swell then I'm fine. I'm actually being induced this Wednesday 23rd as my placenta is calcifying- actually due date is 1st June. Good luck to you all xx Best wishes to you, Cakes!! Please come back on and let us know how your birth went!!

I also feel huge pressure when I stand up & try to get out of bed...can't say mine is pain as such just plenty of pressure. Makes me wake like a 90 year old when I get out of bed for the loo during the night! Oh I hope I haven't jinxed you Anon with the swollen ankles! I now have 'cankles' ....I don't know where my calf ends and my ankles begin anymore! They're all moulded into one. Yeah, it can be a sign of high blood pressure problems but my BP has thankfully been fine all the way through. Other signs to look out for are headaches, visual disturbances like blurred vision, floaters etc Time to get checked out if these all present Reassuring to know you went again for a 3rd time! First time here for me :-)

How ironic! I just looked at my ankles today and noticed that they're totally swollen! I only started feeling it today too. That's really not good. Doesn't that also indicate high blood pressure?

Good morning ladies..... How is everyone doing? Not long now for us June mums to be! Am getting really nervous/excited now, can't wait to meet my little one (any chance I could skip the labour though???) BTW How's everyone's feet doing? Mine have just blown up! Thought it was just the heat but no amount of having them up in the cool air con is helping! I had to buy a pair of flip flops 2 sizes bigger than I normally wear....I'll be robbing DH's next! Lol

Morning all, I was just thinking about this thread & how I hadn't seen it for ages and low and behold someone has posted on it! :) I'm also 32 weeks now & getting huge! Not everywhere, just bump! Had my 32 week appointment & scan yesterday and at the moment baby is weighing nearly 5lb!!!!!!!!!!! Of course they aren't completely accurate but with the size of my bump I'd well believe it!! We hadn't bought anything at all for the baby (due to a VERY superstitious dad & moving house @ 29 weeks) so for the last 2 weekends I've had such fun....bought loads! Bar a few more clothes (in the 3-6month range!!! Joking!) and nappies, wipes etc I think we're pretty much sorted. Can't wait for my buggy to arrive so I can start playing. :) Anyone bought a bog standard changing bag? If so what one? Another website I'm on,, the ladies all seem to be buying really expensive designer ones. Now if they nearly changed the baby for you I'd consider it but at the end of the day I can't see the difference?! Am I missing something? Well I hope everyone is keeping well, anyone else think the heat has cranked up a bit in the last couple of days too???? Hi! I like to bump up this thread every so often. Otherwise I think it'd be a dead thread! lol I don't know what a bog standard changing bag is. However, I do have a changing bag but it is one that I bought when I had my second child. It is very practical but not a chic one or anything. I bought it at Babies r Us in the USA a few years back. I found that the selection was better there. I feel really hot nowadays too. I almost don't feel like wearing pyjamas when I sleep at night! I just crank up the a/c but I think the other members of my household are starting to feel cold because of my selfish ways...

Hello Ladies, I am a little gatecrasher! Only just joined Expat women. I have a little boy who is nearly 16 months, and I am 31 weeks pregnant with another cheeky little boy. My Due date is 28th June. Had terrible terrible morning sickness felt like I was going to die from 6 weeks until 20 weeks, and now I am just tired and achy all the time. Oh the joys of pregnancy lol. I live in Jumeirah Village Triangle just behind the springs, so I went to the Rosary Medical centre in the Springs for my scans and saw a doctor called Dr Mohamed Yousef, he is lovely and really takes him time and explains things to us. He is going to deliver our baby at the new Saudi German Hospital which is very handy that it is now open as it is only a 5-10 min drive from our house. Is anyone else delivering at Saudi German? Hope all you ladies are feeling well. Carly.

Hi all, I am 31 weeks at the moment. Guess date is June 26 so I could be June/July depending on when my princess will decide to come. Pregnancy has been going well this time around. Have only gained about 5.5kg's which is great! I gained over 20kg's in my last pregnancy so I was about 12kg overweight to start off with unfortunately. Another girl so I haven't even bought much as I have loads that DD did not even wear. I can feel lots of movement... my tummy actually moves from side to side. Lovely feeling :D Hope everybody else is doing well.
