Pregnant. Hooray!!

So now I need to sort out a Drs/hospital and don't really know where to start.

Am I right in thinking you go straight to the dr/hospital you want to have your baby (as opposed to the Uk where you go to your GP)? And as for choosing a hospt I have heard good things about the American Hospt, City Hospt, Welcare and Medcare. Does anybody have any feedback? Also would love to how how you chose you hospt. Did you visit etc?
Also do you choose a Dr there or get assigned one? If so can I pls have any suggestions?

Also I do have maternity in my insurance but only up to a limit. Does anybody know how much a standard pregnancy/birth costs?

Sorry for so many questions but I really don't know where to start.

Thanks

Congratulations! We went straight to the OBGYN as soon as we found out. The first time he scanned me (at about 2 weeks) it was too early to see anything. A week later I was rescanned and could see that the pregnancy had progressed. We were really happy with our Doctor (Amir Nasseri). He has a private clinic 9Medical and also works at City.

Hi, thanks for all the tips and names. I'm still not clear what the first thing I do is. In the UK I would just go and see my doctor to get it confirmed I'm pregnant, ask what happens next and so on. Do I need to pick a hospital and an obs/gyn person now (and wait weeks!) just to do that? Or do you just go to your normal doctors clinic at this stage?

Congratulations and wishing you a happy pregnancy! I also highly recommend Dr. Rosalie Sant and she can deliver at American hospital, city hospital or Welcare. I have delivered at American hospital before and am very happy with them. I took a look at city hospital this time but since I already feel comfortable with American I'm reluctant to change. This is the link for the prices of the maternity packages at American hospital: http://www.ahdubai.com/dynamicdata/main.aspx.

Congratulations! Its hard not having a clue isn't it, i was in the same boat a couple of years ago, and i was all over the place worrying about what i was meant to do, you will need an antenatal package and delivery package, think the antenatal is about 4000, and a standard delivery around 10000, I actually went to umm sequimm clinic and al wasl for my ante natal package, then ended up going back to the UK to have him, because my hubby had to go back for a couple months with work.. anyway lol I can't be much more help than that, every hospital you look up will have good and bad reviews, I was planning on having my baby in al wasl just because they are a lot cheaper (think about 7000 for standard) and a lot of private hospital still transfer there if there is a problem so i decided i would be in good hands, hope you get a bit more info :)
