Hi ladies, im new to all of this but have to say its lovely to find a thread on the may babies!
My friend recommended I take a look after she made some really good friends on the birth club last year with her LO.
I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and due 9th may, was discussing maternity leave with work today so it's all becoming very real!! This is our first, hubby and I are in our early 30s and are both very excited. Would be lovely to meet up with some other mummies-to-be and share info, for all the first timers I'm sure this would be great!!
I also work ft so evenings or weekends are best :-)
Congrats all you ladies in team pink!! How exciting!! It will definitely make shopping easier. We have bought a couple of sleep suits and vests but I really don't want everything in neutral colours so will probably only get what we need for the first few days and go on a mad shopping spree when we get home. Exciting times!
Star007 We eventually settled on the Jane Rider formula travel system. It comes with a carrycot, pushchair & car seat. We got it when we went back to the UK for Christmas and had it shipped over which added an extra 300 odd pounds to the cost :( but we loved it as it seems very easy to manage & the carrycot can also be used in the car which will be good for longer journeys. I definitely think its easier buying a car than a pram though..hehe.. so many to choose from & so much information to take in!!
Hubby and I have started to think of names.. again because we've decided not to find out the xxx we're having to think of both which is difficult. I like some of the old names but they seem to be getting more and more popular. We'll try to make a shortlist of both and no doubt choose something completely different when we actually see our LO!!
Definitely feeling more movement these days which is great although then of course when I don't feel anything for a while I start to get a bit anxious!! Do we ever stop worrying about these little ones?? Does anyone else get a real nervous feeling in their tummy when bubba is moving? I have an almost continuous feeling of butterflies in my stomach which I have been told is probably bubba wriggling & moving. At first I thought i was losing the plot and just living in a constant state of anxiety but am learning to go with it now that I know what it is.
Anyway ladies keep me posted on a meet up and keep well x
Hi ladies,
I was confused why the last thread no longer worked and was itching to hear all your news, so glad we are back in action! Philly, I had a similar experience at the 20 week scan last week at FMC :( they told me it was ok for the DVD at first but then afterwards told me they hadn't recorded it as the baby wasn't in the correct position. Also, I had a different person do the scan this time, it was a man and I didn't think he was as good as Dr Soroya whom I had at 12 weeks and was excellent and very warm and communicative. There wasn't much dialogue and I left with a blurred pic of babies head this time so was a bit disappointed after being told I could have DVD initially. However, on the plus side, it was amazing to see bubs and we found out the ***, despite the Dr trying to dissuade us(!) My hubbie didnt want to know until the last minute and we were so shocked when they said girl! We were convinced it was a boy - no idea why though. We have decided not to tell anyone (apart from you gals so shhh ;) )so that it's still a surprise for family. So far so good, it's our little secret and it's actually very nice - we feel quite bonded as a trio in the knowledge that nobody else knows :) I have also been feeling a lot of movement this week, previously I fely nothing but the bubbles and flutters are definitely there - mostly when I'm at work and when I go to bed. It's lovely to feel her moving around in there!
We also did a tour of our hospital this week and came away from it very reassured and confident in the midwives, facilities and care. I am actually really looking forward to the birth now whereas I wasn't before. After the hosp we went to the shops and bought a few things for the first time and our excitement levels were almost through the roof! It's all getting so real and exciting. I need to start thinking of prams but don't know where to start. Have any of you ladies decided on yours yet? If so which ones have caught your eye? Also, what names are you liking for boys and girls? I would love to attend Bumps and Babes coffee mornings xxx

Had scan today which was very exciting, we are having another girl which is lovely. Had a feeling this one was a girl, can now think about names! Congratulations Muurtje, I think i'm due a few days after you so we may end up having our babies around the same time. I am mentally preparing myself for another late baby as I was 8 days overdue last time which would mean a June baby!
Hope you're all keeping well.
so glad to see this thread up and running again.. i was really enjoying getting to know other May ladies and sharing experiences! Would also love to catchup..I've just finished work and I'm starting to climb the walls already!! i'm a bit shy going to things on my own at first so it would be good if i knew there were ladies to look out for..lol! I don't mind the trip from AD to Dubai.. it passes the day and is a good excuse to wander round the malls :)
All going well with our bump.. we've still managed to hold off finding out the gender although its getting harder with every visit and hubby spends more time looking at the scan trying to guess... even though he says he doesn't want to know!!
Philly we did get the CD at the 20 week scan at FMC but paid AED150 which we thought was a bit of a rip off as it was only a couple of minutes long.. nothing like the 12 week one when we got the full scan.. never mind!
Muurtje.. how's the sickness? i hope its well and truly gone by now??
Glad to hear everything is going well with you all x
Yay, muurtje! That's really exciting :) did you get to see her in 3D? When we saw Smurf, we got a bit of a fright and renamed it Gollum. Set off a huge debate about the gender back home lol! Should make decorating and shopping a bit easier for you.
Just got back from my scan. Very excited to find out it's a girl. Would have been excited either way, just really wanted to know. Had to wake the little monkey up with a can of 7up first as she was having a nice little snooze and wasn't in a position where we could see. After the drink she was moving around like mad and has only just settled again :)
Hi Ladies,
Glad to hear you are both well. Muurtje, i also have my 21 week scan this week on Monday. Undecided as to whether or not to find out. We didn't find out with the first and it was a nice surprise when she arrived as I was convinced I was having a boy!
I would also be interested in the bumps and babes coffee morning, however i'm working on Monday, might head to the one at marina mall on Thursday.
Thanks for starting a new thread Philly. I thought it was just me as I was the last one to post on the thread.
Am having my 21 week scan on Sunday. Really looking forward to it and hoping to find out the gender of our little one.
Also planning to go to the bumps and babes coffee morning at MOE this week. Let me know if any of you would like to join, or we can say what we'll be wearing so we can recognise each other :)
