Hi Sabina... Thanks for the info on boppy pillow.. i think i should get one as i'm sleeping on my back unknowingly quite often.. and my hubby is quite tensed abt it... i will also see if i can get any second hand.. its just a matter of few months use!!! Hi Cleo.. sorry to hear about the pain...have u been to chiropractor... any benefit? giving advice can be quite easy... but just consider it as the part of the bundle and everything is gonna be fine soon... Is any one planning for a 3D/ 4D scan on the 20th week scan? Im quite confused about it... thinking i will ask my doctor how it is... i would prefer to go for it if it helps the doctor to get more info... Take care ladies..

Hi Ladies!! I was in the september group but decided to make a switch to October as my due date is october 13th, I'm just hoping i'll deliver by 38-39 weeks (wishful thinking much?) lol I'm 18 1/2 weeks, this pregnancy has been different than my first. I feel better than I did in my 1st trimester, but the nausea is not completely gone :( and for some reason the fatigue is hitting me now *sigh*. My bump looks massive!!!! A Lady in the elevator asked me yesterday if I was 8 months....ughh I was so embarrassed. I tend to carry really low, and i'm super short- so there isn't much room for baby to grow except down and outwards lol Trying to get some walking in, and some pre-natal pilates in as much as I can, but lately have pubic dysfunction pain. Has anyone else had this? I had this with my son before as well, but only after 37 weeks. I seem to have it now much much earlier and it's quite painful :( Thinking of seeing a chiropractor to get this sorted. I don't know how I'll make it to 9 months with this pain, along with the back aches :( I have no choice but to get into maternity clothes. I avoided it as much as I could- but now can't understand why i even tortured myself trying to squeeze into old clothes. I ordered mine online from Isabella Oliver and Blush and Bloom. No complaints and I can even see myself wearing them after I deliver while I try to get my baby pounds down! The quality is really great and stylish too! I had terrible SPD with my first around 6 months. A few sessions with the chiropractor really helped. Didn't make the pain go away but reduced it to being bearable. till hurt like h*ll though!

hi all, Aish, i can't imagine what it would be like with twins if i am already that big with just one...so hats off to you! In terms of maternity clothes, i found it more comfortable to buy the trousers like stretchy jeans and pair of leggings. They are actually the ones that go 'over the bump' so have a really large stretchy panel. At first the might even seem a little loose but your bump will grow into it. They are made to accomodate your bump all the way through. Even though i haven't actually put on any major weight i found that buying a size bigger than my normal size is helpful as it doesn't cling that much and i am sure with the summer heat you will appreciate a bit more looseness in the clothing. I have also had a pair of trousers i no longer really used anyway and took them for AED20 to the tailor in Satwa to insert a panel! Re Boppy pillow is a full body-length pillow...one side goes under your head like a normal pillow, then it curves round your bump so you can rest the bump on it and curves so you can keep it between the knees and legs. There are other versions of pregnancy pillows so I am sure a lot of them are helpful. As opposed to just using your own pillows which scatter during the night, this one is soft and stays next to you so you can hug it! I find that i turn less with it next to me. I bought one from Dubizzle but after washing it etc it was as good as new. Hi Cleo4e, Don't worry i am still in desperate need of napping and can't wake up in the morning so i don't fully believe doctors that all fatigue goes away with such rapid growth of the baby. Sorry to hear about your pubic dysfunction...has the doctor prescribed any safe pain relief for this? A friend of mine had it for the whole pregnancy from as soon as the weight of the uterus was already quite heavy. She did a lot of swimming which helped relieve the pressure. I hope the chiropractor can help. Let us know how it goes. Where are you delivering?

Hi Everyone... Good to hear that all are doing well... they tell second trimster is the best part in the pregnancy, which make me worried thinking what would the be third trimster ..lol.... :) Lynett & dxb_2013: I had my initial appointment at karama health centre and they have referred me to Latifa hospital for my next check up which is scheduled in second week of June.. have a scan also scheduled there in the first week of June.. i will be seeing my private gynec at the local small clinic, whom i was seeing with initially. that will help me in case of my stupied queries and worries i think :) anyway i will take all my latifa appointments also.. 6 appointments is what they tell on the antenatal package i think... I am 19 weeks now and i think i look like seven months with my twins ... !! god knows what will i look like in the eight month... hahaha... i dont know what maternity clothes to get... sure i want a jeans.. but will that fit me after a month if my tummy is growing at this rate??? what did u guys get? SAbina... what is the Boppy body pillow??? everynight when i wake up in b/n i find myself lying on my back.. will this pillow help to overcome that? take care ladies...

thanks ladies! I am feeling much better week by week and walks in the park definitely help. Although everyone keeps saying how my bump looks really big. But i guess everyone's body is different and when we had our 16 week scan the little man was 15cm long and 150g, which i have been looking at and seems above average...must be all the protein I am eating! I am finding the heat already quite hard and try and stay out of the sun during the day. Anyone else already suffering from water retention due to heat? Just turned 17 weeks today and have found that pre-natal pilates is awesome. I feel so much better afterwards and will start going 2 times a week now i think. dxb_2013, maternity clothes is truly a blessing! New Look in the UK has a sale on still i think and they deliver to the UAE in case you need something...works out cheaper than clothes here! Also, since i am having trouble sleeping due to leg, hip and everything else cramps from lying on one side too long, plus i sometimes wake up lying on my back or on my right side and my legs feel numb as if my circulation has been cut off! So I have bought a Boppy Body Pillow. It really makes a difference and helps me stay off my back. :)

Hi - to the new ladies on the board, welcome and congratulations on your pregnancies! Aish - I called Latifa regarding registration and they sent me to Al Barsha clinic first (we went there yesterday), I now have my health card but I'm a little confused regarding the appointments. Are you planning to use Latifa for all of your maternity appointments? Or will you split the time between your OBGYN and Latifa? I would prefer to stay with my OB but obviously want to be registered and have access to Latifa should I require it due to pre-term labour etc... How's everyone feeling? I'll be 17-weeks tomorrow and finally caved and purchased some maternity clothes yesterday, so comfortable and wish I had purchased them sooner! :)

I met Dr. Mohammad Ibraheem at Barsha health center, and I am so relieved, as he is awesome.. He has 22 yrs of experience.. just in case your's is barsha too, try seeing him.. edited by Lynett84 on 12/05/2013

hi ladies! Decided to sign up to this group as had my 16 weeks scan yesterday (and found out its going to be a boy!) and fingers crossed everything is ok. Feeling much more positive about pregnancy now as we had a miscarriage in January and this is our first baby. I am due on 22nd October and have the best Obs (Dr Petrova) at Cooper Clinic. If anyone is still searching for one, i wouldn't hesitate in recommending her. The one thing i have to say is I am glad with insurance here they do you a scan every month rather than in the UK on the NHS where my friends only got 2 throughout the whole pregnancy! Its far more reassuring. Hope you are all doing well x Hi sabina.. Good to know.. My due date is the 18th of Oct insha'Allah :) How have things been so far?

Thanks Aish! Is anyone registered to give birth at Welcare Hospital, Safa? Was going to arrange a visit to see the facilities but wanted to know if anyone has had any experience there already? Also, would any of you happen to know if there is such a thing as pre-natal Aqua aerobics classes in Dubai? Have a good day everyone and look after yourselves and the bumps.

Aish - I'm glad to hear you are doing well. Did you register at Latifa yet? I need to get that done next week. I'm still on a medical leave of absence (I'm not sure if/when they will release me back to work) but for now I'm working remotely so I'm trying to keep myself distracted and have a little daily routine to try and help keep me sane and fill my day! Kelly - did you have the cerclage placed in Dubai? If so, which doctor did you see? I'm sorry to hear they are being negative, not what you need when it's a scary enough time as it is! I have been very lucky with my doctor and he has been very supportive and encouraging - I went back and forth about having the procedure done here or going to the US/UK (I looked into the Trans-Abdomal cerclage too) but in the end decided to put my trust in my local doctor. My cervix measured 1.7 at the initial scan, then .97 and then 1.6 the morning of the surgery - with the stitch in now the measurement at my last appointment was 2.6 (I'm just keeping my fingers and toes crossed it's secure enough to hold these two babies in for as long as possible!). How often are you being monitored? Is this your first pregnancy? If you need a friendly ear I'm here, I know how scary it is for you.

BananaJuice: congrats! I guess nothing beats better than home where U can get help more easily, i can understand. I'm missing my family already even thou I'm only here for less than 2 weeks. I'm also planning a trip to UK in first week of june. Taking this opportunity to visit a friend and to holiday before the baby popped.

Dxb_2013 - yes this is baby number 1 for me. Now week 13 and waiting for my belly to pop. Been in Dubai since March 2012. Not long but I'm actually ready to go home ... Sometimes Dubai isn't for everyone and I'm one of those :) edited by BananaJuice on 22/04/2013

Thanks for your replies ladies. Back in SG, the gynae did ultrasound everytime during the visit. As I had a missed miscarriage after my first born, I'm rather cautious abt this pregnancy. I will probably request gynae to do a ultrasound everytime. I'm checking out the gynae from either welcare or medcare. Any particular gynae to look out for? Every pregnancy is different so we gonna to give ourselves a pat on the shoulder to encourage ourselves to go forward until 40 weeks! Since all of us had past the first trimester, lets enjoy our second trimester!

Hey ladies :) Gingerelle: I don't think the doctors here would object to looking after you just until you leave to go back home...lots of women do that here, so I think the doctors are pretty much used to that. You should be able to fly no problem around 30 weeks, might want to get a "non objection letter" from your doctor just in case you get asked at the airport. I am not familiar with OMAN insurance, why don't you find out which hospitals they cover...it's easier to find an obgyn from there. And yes they do a detailed scan around 20 weeks here...in fact I was surprised to find out that most of the doctors do a ultrasound pretty much every time they see you here while pregnant...this has both good and bad sides of course. :) Banana Juice and aish: Congrats!!!! :) Dawn: Hang in there!!! Sorry to hear that you are on bed rest...on the positive note, it's getting so hot outside anyhow, you are not missing out much! How about reading up on all those pregnancy/breastfeeding books! :)

Hi ladies! Yay! Lovely to see some new faces on the board... :) Tatjana - ah, baby number three I'll be asking you lots of advice! It's the second pregnancy for me (first ended in an early miscarriage) so very thankful we've made it to week 13 today. I have met Dr. Josza (he's very nice), he removed an ovarian cyst for me several years ago when he was at the American Hospital. Banana Juice - congrats! Is this baby number 1 for you? How long have you been in Dubai? Gingerelle - welcome to Dubai! I'm a newbie when it comes to OBGYN care and when they will allow you to fly etc... so hopefully one of the other ladies on the board will be able to answer your question on it. In terms of OBGYN care I have seen several great doctors here over the years, Dr. Josza (Healthbay PolyClinic in Jumeriah) and Dr. Rosalie Sant (Healthcare City). Aish - congrats on the twins! How's your pregnancy been so far? Mine has been a little complicated, bleeding started at 5 1/2 weeks (so scary) so was placed on modified bed rest, then at 8-weeks they diagnosed short/incompetant cervix so I had the cerclage (stitch) placed on Sunday - surgery went well but now on strict bed rest for the next few days. I'm going stir crazy in the house - I long to be outside again!!

Hi all mummies! I'm new to Dubai and also to this forum. I'm 13th week preggie with my 2nd child and is due in Oct too. I've a few queries about seeing the gynae in Dubai., hope u gals can help me with them. 1) I've been seeing my own gynae back in Singapore and I intend to fly bk to give birth. Are the gynae here ok with the idea of just looking after me until 30th week? 2) Any good gynae to recommend and is covered under Oman Insurance ? 3) I did my OSCAR screening in Singapore. Does the gynae here do detailed scan during the 20th week?

No, it's my third one! :) Still very different than my previous two pregnancies...it's interesting how they all can be so different. I was with Dr. Britt at the City Hospital, but she is leaving so I am looking for a new doc....thinking about scheduling an appointment with Dr. Christian Josza at the Health Bay Polyclinic. I am looking for a pro natural doctor, heard he is one of that kind. Is that your first pregnancy Dawn?

Hi Tatjana! I'm excited to 'meet' another due in October! Congratulations. Is this your first little one? I too seem to be hungry all the time, snacking regularly helps keep the nausea away which is good as I was totally miserable in the beginning and had to force myself to eat which wasn't pleasant. Which OBGYN are you seeing? Dawn

Glad you started this post...I was already wondering how there was no "October-Due date" sticky yet! :) Tatjana
