Hi ladies, I am really lost and I need help to find a good hospital in Dubai for delivery, I am currently consulting a doctor at Emirates Hospital and I feel so comfortable with her, but Emirates hospital doesn't have delivery section. All I need is a clean friendly atmosphere hospital because I get overwhelmed by hospitals..

I also need my husband to be with me in the delivery room, it is our first baby and I don't want him to miss such a precious moment.. !!! :(

I've heard bad reviews about AL Zahra too in the past like a few years ago, but recently mostly good ones so they have probably become better..

Hi ladies, I had to reply as well, A friend learnt a very harsh lesson with Al Zahra and also thought it was perfect being so close to home and yes, the facilities are great but without adequately experienced competent doctors, the place is just an empty shell. They cannot handle any complications that happen during pregnancies. In her case, She ended up in premature labour and her baby died. I hope this doesnt happen to someone else. Please think carefully about the choice of hospital for delivery. If she had the chance to do it again, she would never go to al zahra, rather drive the 30 -45 minutes and have peace of mind.

Hello Ladies, As I was reading your posts about Zahra Hospital, I need to express my opinion about this hospital. I am also pregnant, just entering the second trimester, but I would never choose to deliver in Al Zahra. I heard the worst about the expertise of their doctors, including the story of my friend who also delivered her daughter there. Due to a wrong maneuver during the delivery, the baby was fully paralyzed. Until date her parents are spending huge amounts on medicine and recovery for her with no success. They also sued the hospital and the case is still in Court. I do realize this horrible thing can happen anywhere, but Al Zahra is a NO GO for me despite whatever facilities they have for delivery. In the end the people there are delivering your baby.

Hi, I am 23 weeks and just started to research hospitals recently as i want to know what i'm doing ASAP to put my mind at rest (I HATE medical treatment here in Dubai so many bad things happened to me personally and pretty much everyone I know) I firstly started to research online exactly what I wanted in my birth. Do I want totally natural, Hypnobirthing, Epidural, C-Section etc. I think once you have an idea of this only then can you start to look into hospitals. for instance if a c-section is the last thing you want you don't want to visit a Dr or hospital that has a crazy high c-section rate. If you want hypnobirthing MOST hospitals in Dubai don't even know what this is let alone cater to it. I would suggest you go to visit these hospitals that you have in your mind (and research people's experiences online) and see how you feel. Unfortunatly my OB-GYN doesn't do delivery but she automatically told me to deliver at City. I started to research City online and although it seems to be one of the best for delivery, every Doula, Prenatal Yoga instructor and online forum also seemed to highly recommend Al Zahra. Al Zahra is right near my house (compared to the 30 - 45minute drive to City) so I decided to visit Al Zahra first. Once i'd visited Al Zahra in Barsha I didnt even feel the need to visit another hospital. They have British led midwife unit, birthing pol in every room (this is not only for birthing but also pain relief during early contractions) the rooms are big, well equipped, relaxing stars on the ceilings, Bluetooth music players and a lean friendly maternity atmosphere. Since visiting instead of freaking out about my Dubai birth i've actually had dreams of a relaxing birth. I have also not read one bad review of their birthing maternity unit whereas alot of people have said about City that they have to wait and it's very busy. Just go and visit all your hospitals that are a possibility to you and see how you feel about it. Ask about the DR's input in the birth, what the pain relief or hypnobirthing options are and what their emergency c-section rate is. Hi, Thanks for posting about Al Zahra hospital. I'm moving to Dubai from Kuwait in a few weeks and still need to find a hospital to transfer to. I've been looking at Al Zahra and now I feel like I'll definitely chose to deliver there. Do you know what the procedure is? Do you need to pre-book a delivery room? I'll be 36 weeks when I arrive so I'm not really going to have much time to look around places and book in, if that's what is required. Thanks :-)

Hi Ladies, Has anyone delivered at jebil ali lifeline hospital? Or had any pregnancy experiences there? My insurance covers this hospital but im really unsure about them, when i discussed what pain relief they give for labor the doctor said epidural, no gas and air!! I've also had other experiences that make me nervous. Thanks Hi Lux, I delivered at Lifeline Hospital Jebel Ali and had a fantastic experience. I chose gas for pain relief throughout and when I had complication I was given epidural out of my choice. I really liked the Delivery Suite and the care was very personalised. The customer care is superb. I would never think twice as Im also not comfortable in very big hospitals. They also allowed my husband in during my labor. They gave lovely giveaway diaper bags with goodies for my baby also. All in all no issues what so ever.

Nerma, like you, i had oculars on almost all hospitals here in Dubai, both gov't and private. We live in Deira. However, it all goes down to the delivery package as we dont have a maternity insurance (not covered). Luckily, one new hospital opened this year and through word by mouth of some nurses (of the same nationality as mine and their concern on our finances) they led me straight to Thumbay Hospital which is a branch of GMC Hospital Ajman, a reputable hospital for OB GYNE, pregnancy and delivery here in the UAE. They do have very reasonable packages and good doctors too. I have my DS with me and he is a healthy baby :)

I had my 2 babies in Mediclinic City Hospital and very happy, with Dr Mira, French Ob-Gyn, Western standard.

Dear Nerma, I believe here in UAE there is such a variety of hospitals and they are all nice, clean and quite calm. In general in this forum you will find good and bad review for almost every hospital. So I would rather suggest you thinking over more criteria and then it will be easier for you to chose and for the rest to recommend:) What is the area most preferable for you? What hospitals your insurance covers? Do you plan to deliver with your current doctor? The she/he should guide you about the place. So far I chose Al Garhoud Hospital. Its rather expensive but my doctor delivers only there so no other choice for me.
