Sorry - another double stroller thread. Other mums expecting 2 under 2, which stroller did you decide on?

Sorry, sorry, sorry ladies, I know this gets done at least once per week and I have read all the old threads but still completely in the dark. I am wondering if anyone else is in the same shoes as me (soon to be the mum of 2 under 2) and what you have bought or are thinking of buying?

I am notoriously indecisive and shopped for about 6 months for a travel system for my DS! Went for an umbrella fold stroller (Inglesina Zippy) and have been very happy with it. Now I'm expecting my 2nd, they will be 22 months apart, and find the world of double strollers ten times more intimidating! Hope to buy something 2nd hand and not spend AED4000 again!

I have the option of buying a 2nd hand Phil & Teds Vibe at the moment but you seem to need a special degree in order to configure & fold it (well, compared to my current stroller). And cannot imagine the little one being so close to the ground, with no view at all?

The only other option for sale 2nd hand at the moment where I live is a Chicco Cortina Together double stroller - which is a more traditional in-line stroller - I imagine it would be like pushing a train but at least one of them won't be only 10cm off the ground??!!

Could anyone please give me advice on which one to go for, I am so confused and need to decide soon....

I am not convinced that a side by side is a good idea for the first days (maybe when they're a little older) as I don't think my nearly 2 year old would give his little sister a moment's rest - and he would be 10 kg heavier than her so surely the whole thing would be off balance?

I have a Mclaren Triumph, which I don't like (it tips over too easily!), so not too keen on the Mclaren Triumph Twin which also seems to be very popular.

When DH is at home at weekends we will probably use two separate strollers but most of the time it is just me so definitely need a double stroller if I don't want to be housebound!!

I have 3 double strollers at home now! Currently using the phil&Ted's E3 I bought via Dubizzle last weekend, DH says it's the best of the lot (the other 2 are a Mamas&Papas inline stroller and Mothercare Phoenix). He says it's the least fiddly to fold up, truly lightweight, easy to steer. I quite liked the Mothercare Phoenix and used it a fair bit along Beach Rd, in Safa Park, etc. My LOs are 3 and 1. On our UK summer holiday to the great family magnets of Alton Towers and Drayton Manor (Thomas Land) and Cadbury World and Glasgow Science Ctr, DH joked that I was more interested in the double strollers being used by parents than the main attractions (guilty as charged!). I saw so many Phil & Teds being used (Sport, E3, Explorer) and parents not kicking stupid stroller, that I decided it was worth the extra money. Other faves were Mothercare Phoenix and the Graco equivalent, Graco Duoglider. Congrats Farasha on the Donkey :0)

Hi I posted on the other thread about my Maclaren Twin Techno - it's fab, and if you're used to an umbrella single stroller then a heavy double will seem very cumbersome. I know what you mean about the Triumph tipping over a lot as I have one too - but tbh the Twin Techno *never* did that for me as its weight distribution is v different. My two dds are 2 years 5 months apart and I started using the Techno as soon as dd2 was born as I had to walk to & from nursery. There were no balancing problems at all and dd1 never interfered with her baby sister. I would def shop around for a 2nd had one as there should be a few out there. Hth x

Love love love my city select! My DD who's 2.5yrs loves it too both seats fully recline so if she falls asleep in the car I just transfer her into the stroller and she sleeps for hours in there! I regret not buying the bassinet for baby as the seat isn't flat but attaching car seat is super easy. It also fits in the back of my pajero with the 3rd row of seats up. So love love love it.

I know its super pricey but have you looked at the Bugaboo Donkey? I have just got it for my twins and love love LOVE it. its designed to also be for 2 babies/children of different ages. John Lewis UK have an export department and it works out the same price to have it delivered here to your door as it does to buy it there because of the VAT deduction. Although you do need to pay a customs fee to the Aramex man when its delivered. Farasha, do you know how much you paid? The retailers here have no pricing info yet.

P&T for me (waves at Green-ish) and my two are 21 months apart. Never had any problems with sitting in the bottom seat (they always have a clear choice - sit where I tell you to or walk!). However, DD used to slip out of the toddler seat in it's newborn configuration (probably more to do with DD that with the design), so I used to have DS in the maxi-cosi with the adaptor and DD in the bottom seat. The buggy was well-balanced and it worked well. I've only just, this very day, stopped using it as a double and DD is now 4... she's been chancing it for a while now, wanting to sit, but enough's enough, especially as they are both over 15kg, so over the limit (strictly speaking) for the bottom seat.

we had a p&t for my two who are 18 months apart - but it only worked out for a few months as they both wanted to be next to each other! We settled upon the mamas and papas double stroller from dubai mall - totally love it as light, umbrella fold, easy to open/close, steer and easy to clean!! nearly forgot to say - it is the 'voyage twin'.

See my review a few days ago on the Peg Perego Aria Twin. http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=158373 My first two children are 20 months apart and we bought the P&T...I like it (definitely do not *love* it) as a single buggy, detest it as a double. I wish I knew about the Aria Twin back then. Second and third children are 2.5 yrs apart and the Aria is perfect!

I have three under 3 (a 2 year old and 1 year old twins) and I cannot recommend highly enough the city select stroller. Not cheap, but its like a bugaboo - it takes either a car seat or a normal seat - front or back facing for either one. Easiest stroller Ive ever had to fold up - it really revolutionized my life. I saw this at the shops in the US and it looks gorgeous. I have the P&T and it's fine, but the city select is perfect.

Hi Novice, I am in a similar situation and we decided to invest in a stroller only after a LO is born. At the moment I like Silver Cross pop duo; not too bulky, easy to fold and not too pricey. I am not keen on going out alone with two under two, hence want to see how logistics will work after nr 2 is born :) HTH
